"Recently-renovated facility close to central Christchurch with reasonable prices. The rooms and common areas were clean, and the location is very walkable. Would be nice if the doors closed more quietly. Despite being "shared bathroom" in principle, the bathrooms were just right next to our room and didn't seem heavily contended."

"Jailhouse accommodations is a super quirky unique place. I rented a single cell for 2 nights. Positives - the security code was sent promptly and worked perfectly, this is an old jail exactly as advertised, the wall are thick, the bed was just right, and Staff were helpful. Cons - if you get a drunk idiot who comes in after midnight and forgets his code between the front door and cell…it takes the staff a bit of time to manage this. The rooms are actual prison cells, so they are small and...

"1 flannel 1 towel each. No hand towels. 1 t towel and a dishcloth wasn't much bigger than my hand. Towels weren't changed. Yard was disgraceful. Inadequate heating for winter. Hairdryer didn't go. The list goes on. Will never go back there or recommend it to anyone. I will say the sheets were clean and the little old lady at counter was lovely. So disappointed was looking forward to a lovely weekend. Very rarely get away. "

The lady knew we were on a late flight and gave us a late check out for no additional charge, which made a huge difference to our first morning back. Room was warm and cozy and sufficient for what we needed. Will definitely be our first option for when we return to chch. "
