Expect the unexpected when you visit the 17 hectares of water-themed thrills at Aquaventure. This enormous water park provides fun for all the family! You’ll find yourself shooting through rapids and whizzing down slides, travelling under and over the water, whilst the park’s resident sealife looks on.
Without a doubt, the stand-out ride at Aquaventure is the Mesopotamian-themed Zigurrat. Seven slides are attached to this 30-metre high tower, and the choice of which to take is yours! Only the very bravest will ride the aptly named Leap of Faith – a near-vertical drop of over 9 storeys that then shoots you along a clear tube submerged in shark and ray-infested waters. Alternatively, spin down through the mysterious darkness of the centre of Zigurrat’s tower on a one- or two-person inner tube before emerging into the lagoon in the Shark Attack! ride.
The Rapids river adventure cleverly connects all of the park’s waterslides, so you will never have to leave your inner tube. It is a thrilling ride in itself with high intensity rapids, wave surges and waterfalls to keep you guessing at every twist and turn. For even more excitement, head to The Torrent where you’ll ride the crest of the waves generated by this simulated metre-high swell.
Whilst the park’s rides give you a glimpse of the sharks and rays as you shoot past, you can also meet these magnificent creatures face to face in the company of a marine animal expert. Enter the waist-high waters of Shark Lagoon for a chance to hand-feed the cownose rays, whilst learning all about these unusual-looking animals. Become an underwater explorer in Shark Safari using a special helmet that allows you to walk amongst the sharks, rays and other beautiful fish.
Younger visitors will enjoy Splasher’s, a water playground with gentler rides and attractions. Or head to one of the park’s two pools or private beach for a more relaxing time.
Aquaventure is around 30 minutes’ drive from downtown Dubai on the Palm Jumeirah Island. Taxi travel is the most convenient option. The park is open daily, but hours vary according to the season, so check the website for information.
