"It's a large house in a quiet, but accessible, location in the mountains a few km from Cauterets. The road up is bendy, but very good. The house is spacious and has a big living/eating/kitchen area which works very well. Bedrooms are also good and there are plenty of bathrooms. We didn't use the sauna but we made much use of the newly-installed jacuzzi outside - a great way to end the day under the stars!"

"The property is very poorly maintained. Everything in it is over used, old, and rundown. It was very unpleasant to stay in. The building common areas were grainy and had a strong mildew smell. The mattresses were old, the furniture was over used. The kitchen and the equipment in it were old. The bathroom was in very poor condition. "I was volunteering in Lourdes for 5 days and needed a reasonably priced place to stay. The Villa Mariale was the best price. I realised that I had stayed there some years before, when it was called something else. It hasn’t changed much, but at least, this time bath towels were included. "I believe this is the oldest hotel in Lourdes. The owners have done an incredible job of renovation. The attention to every detail from comfortable beds, beautiful bedding, amenities in the bathroom, a fantasticily gorgeous indoor, swimming, pool, and hot tub outside. The staff is obviously hand-picked for professionalism, extreme kindness cheerfulness. I especially like the evening checks to make sure everything is OK and if more towels or anything is needed in the room. Such a feeling of being cared for welcomed, and a feeling to be at home. An easy location walking to the grotto, as well as to shops and other features in the town of Lourdes, I highly recommend this for a beautiful respite while in Lourdes. Also dining at the restaurant, the food was phenomenal, extreme attention to detail in the preparation, quality and presentation of the meal. A gorgeous breakfast as well."
