If you're looking for a beautiful home base for your Hatteras Island adventures, look no further than Carrie's Place in Avon. This 3-Bedroom, 2-Bathroom cottage-style home was created with mobility and accessibility in mind. Enjoy a prime location for exploring the Outer Banks with quick access to some of the best areas for watersports and fishing in the world. You'll love the spacious backyard, handicap accessibility considerations throughout the home, passes to the Community Pool* and Tennis Courts during the summer, and the pleasant smell of cedar trees, wisteria vines, and the ocean breeze to help you find your Outer Banks sense of peace and relaxation.

Take the stairs or accessible ramp to this single-level home and enter in through the wide 36” entrance where you'll find a brightly lit Living Area with comfortable furniture and a large Flat Screen TV. Relax as you enjoy the ambiance of natural light filtering in through the windows, which complements the bright and airy color scheme. The open-concept spacious Kitchen offers open space for movement and a dining table with seating for 6.

When it's time to get some rest, head to the Queen Master Bedroom with a Smart TV and 36” Doorways to the bedroom, large closet, and bathroom plus a proper wheelchair turning radius for getting around. The Private Bathroom includes wide doors and a wheelchair-accessible sink, stability bars around the toilet and in the shower, which boasts a built-in seat and handheld shower head (note: lip on the shower does not allow roll-in access). You'll find additional sleeping space in the second Queen Bedroom and the Bedroom with 2 Twin Beds, with hallway access to the Full Hallway Bathroom with a Tub and Shower. Just past the kitchen, you'll find the Laundry area, ensuring everyone has clean clothes throughout the week.

Relax on the beautiful front porch or enjoy a picnic out under the trees where the cool breeze and shade offer the ideal peaceful setting for outdoor relaxation and recreation. Enjoy access to the Kinnakeet Shores Community Pool* and Tennis Courts during the summer season and be sure to get to the beach, which is just a short drive away. Rinse off in the roll-in Outdoor Shower before heading back inside and planning another day of exciting Outer Banks adventures.

Explore Historic Hatteras Island
If you've always wanted to get away from the busiest areas of the Outer Banks but still be within easy driving distance of local restaurants, gift shops, and landmarks, Hatteras is the perfect place for you to take your next vacation! Just a few miles down the road, you can go birdwatching and explore the marshes of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge or drive to Buxton to climb the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The anglers in your group will love being so close to Cape Point where they can try their luck reeling in a big catch. To learn more about the area's exciting history, stop by the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station to learn about how water rescues were carried out long before modern technology. For a quick bite or tasty breakfast, drive down to the Orange Blossom Cafe for an apple ugly that's definitely worth writing home about. For dinner, try a delicious seafood meal from Pangea Tavern or a burger from Bros. There are also dozens of local shops within easy driving distance and all the fun adventures to be had in Hatteras Landing, so there is always something fun to do for the whole family.
