"We were more than happy to have discovered Vila Alegre in the countryside outside of Ponta Delgada. It was beautiful, peaceful, and an amazing place to have been our home base for 5 days in Sao Miguel. Antonio was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and willing to answer questions to help guide our itinerary while there. We can't say enough good things about our experience there, and we definitely plan to return!"

"We liked the Casa da Contador very much. It’s an old school - an amazing building. We had a T1 suite which had a door separating a generous sized bed and bath from the kitchen/dining sofa room. Good sized closet. I am rating 4 stars due to a tiny bathroom that was difficult to maneuver and it being 41/2 flights up to the 2nd floor. Parking is easy enough to not be an issue. Breakfast was okay and nice to have."

"Room and its amenities were great and everything was very clean. Parking was easy. All the staff were super friendly and communication was always quick and easy with them, before and during the stay. We had casually mentioned to one of them that we were on anniversary, and our last day they sent a gift basket for us as a surprise! Would definitely stay here again. "

"It’s difficult to describe this magnificent property as it was beyond my expectations! Traveled with my two sons who are tall adults and the spacious room was immaculate and modern. "The quality and size of the “apartments” (they’re basically houses, it’s great) is phenomenal for the price. To have a private back deck, many air conditioners, a kitchen, a nice bathroom, FOUR sets of sliding doors.. it was great. Friendly cats run the grounds, par for the course in Europe. "We loved this house. Location was rural but only 10 mins to Ponta Delgada. The views across the cornfield to the ocean....amazing. The kithen was well-equipped with everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. Our host was quick to respond with any queries. "Place was just as pictured. Clean. Ideal location. Comfiest beds we had in our 5 week vacation. Staff had limited English, but decent French (and significantly better than my Portuguese), so overall no difficulties communicating with them. They were very responsive on WhatsApp and willing to help with booking excusions, willing to provide information. Very happy with our stay (except for the weather, but can’t control when storms decide to pass by). "
