Private Hot Tub in the Pines in North Lake Tahoe

OUR CABIN IS IN A VERY QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD. We love our guests and want you to enjoy your stay but loud noise and partying is not appropriate for this cabin.

This charming, clean and nicely decorated cabin (we call 'the baby') is adorable. It is a great family oriented cabin in the very wooded but friendly area of Agate Bay or Carnelian Bay. This area is "North Lake Tahoe". Right in between Kings Beach and Tahoe City, but closer to Kings Beach. It's a great centralized location, close to the lake, away from the crowds but very close to the action in Kings Beach and Tahoe City as well. The closest ski resort is North Star (about 15 minutes drive), however Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows) is not much further away (about 20 minutes drive) away. Other nearby ski resorts include Diamond Peak(about 20 minute drive), Mt. Rose (about 30 minute drive). The ski resorts around Donner Pass (Boreal, Sugar Bowl & Tahoe Donner, Donner Ski Ranch, Soda Springs) are 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Then the south shore resorts (Heavenly & Kirkwood are an hour or more away). If you don't already know, Tahoe has a lot of ski resorts to choose from and Carnelian Bay is the perfect spot to explore as many as you'd like!

It has a freshly redesigned & renovated, fully equipped kitchen, newly renovated bathrooms & bedrooms, & a completely redecorated loft sleeping area with new linens and a cozy sitting\play area for the kids (and those young at heart). The icing on the cake is the large deck with your own hot tub, great for warming up in the winter and lounging in the summer.

We are very close to one of the Tahoe Rim trail entrances. A beautiful view once you reach the top. An hour hike for all ages. It is also fun to walk to breakfast to the old Carnelian Bay Post Office converted to a wonderful old world cafe.

In the winter months the woods are covered with snow and the cabin is warm and cozy. Ski lifts near by are North Star, great for family.

Diamond Peak which is a bit smaller (and sort of a secret to the tourists) is close, and is a lot of fun with three very long runs. Mt. Rose is to the east a bit further.

It is also close to Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley but the above are a bit less of a drive. The cabin is on a slope so tobogganing is right outside the door.

Then back to the cabin for a hot, relaxing Jacuzzi on the deck.

You will love your stay in 'The Baby' as it has brought many wonderful memories to our family and friends and many return renters.

Great Cabin
We've been here two years in a row now and likely will come back again. It's a great cabin for two families where the kids can share their own space in the loft.

Beautiful home!
We loved staying here. The house was beautiful, cozy, and just what we had hoped for. We were within an easy driving distance of multiple ski resorts. We also loved relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the gorgeous trees. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some meals at home, too!

Calm mountain stay!
What a perfect cabin. Stayed 3 night for a wedding weekend and this was the perfect place to rest and relax when not being festive. The hot tub was so nice to take daily soaks in drinking coffee on the large couch and letting the warm sun pour in the A Frame was so so lovely! Thank you!

Road Maintenance
Unfortunately the road maintenance around Lake Tahoe during our visit was a pain in the ass. This cabin is very obviously a project of family love. We did not use the upstairs but there is plenty of room. Limited bathroom space, but very doable fo a half dozen people. We recommend

Great stay and great memories
We stayed here 15 years ago when Stephany’s parents owned it. Was so fun to go back with our now 18 year old daughter. They have done tons of upgrades to the house and it still felt so cozy and welcoming. House is kinda small but not cramped because of the open floor plan, vaulted ceiling and huge deck!! Comfy king size beds plus lots of loft sleeping with a whole other big bathroom. Neighborhood is incredibly quiet and so gorgeous with snow covered trees. You won’t be disappointed with the welcoming feeling and sweet decor!! Thanks Stephany!!

Great location
If you’re looking for a cabin away from the tourist congested South Lake area, this cabin in perfect. Located in a quiet neighborhood. Close to Squaw Valley, Northstar, Truckee, etc…. Communication with own was great. Cabin was clean and we had no issues. Would love to see some seating on deck to enjoy the view.

Great Place to Stay!
This was an adorable, clean, and cozy cabin perfect for a family with kids! The stairs to the loft are steep though, so if you have little littles, this might not be the best choice. The hot tub was right on the deck, and super fun and easy to use! They even had sleds for us to borrow! The host was very communicative when I had questions and the kitchen was very well stocked! It was about 5 minutes from this awesome sled park which was perfect for us! We had a great time and would definitely stay there again!

BEST CABIN FOR BEST PRICE...
BEST CABIN FOR BEST PRICE IN TOWN! WE had SUCH an incredible time at the cabin. The best parts of the cabin are the warm, EASY to use fireplace, and the hot tub! They are SOOOO nice to have after a day in the snow. The house is VERY COMFY and inviting. All the rooms are large, clean, and homey feeling. The house also sleeps LOTS of people comfortably. We had 7 people with us and had plenty of room. I JUST LOVED IT! WISH I WAS STILL THERE RIGHT NOW!

Perfect Cabin in a Perfect Location
The home was ideal for us and our two Golden Retrievers. The layout is great with two spacious bedrooms downstairs, so we only went upstairs to open the windows and turn on the ceiling fan for wonderful air flow on the warmer days. The kitchen and its big dining table are fantastic for food prep. Although we didn't "cook" as dining out is a big part of our vacations, we did put together light breakfasts and charcuterie-style snack meals to enjoy on the beautiful deck. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything needed for full meals if desired. Our favorite spots in Lake Tahoe are King's Beach and the beach at Carnelian Bay (unofficial dog beach where everyone has a great time... two-leggers and four-leggers) and both are short, easy drives from the cabin. We visit Lake Tahoe every few years and definitely look forward to staying here again.

Liked: Cleanliness
Needs a deep cleaning
This property has so much potential. It is in a great area. The kitchen is well-stocked with equipment and tools. The decor is quirky and cute. There are plenty of beds and the upstairs loft is great for kids. However, the house is in need of a deep cleaning and maintenance. Though the main appliances/sinks/showers/surfaces were cleaned, the rest of the house, from the floors to the ceiling, were quite dusty and dirty (cobwebs, crumbs, dust bunnies, dog hair on comforter, for example). Minor repairs are needed around the house (jiggly shower and closet handles, sliding glass door does not lock, etc.). Many of the windows did not have screens and one of the few screens was bent, which made it difficult to cool down the house without letting bugs in. Stephany was very responsive when we had a carpenter ant issue, but it is an issue for the entire area, not just this property.

Disliked: Cleanliness
Not ideal for family
We arrived to the property and it had not been cleaned from the prior guest. The Manager responded promptly when called however she was not apologetic or sympathetic at all, she actually seemed annoyed. She sent the cleaners out very quickly but asked us to leave so the cleaners could clean faster. That was not an option because we had our dog so we sat on the deck which was awkward. The photos of the property and the description of furnishings are not current. There is no grill or picnic table outside. The spa cover was falling apart so we were hesitant to use it. The second bedroom downstairs did not have a cable box. The coffee table was falling apart and had sharp metal pieces poking off the side, extremely dangerous! The kitchen table was sticky even after cleaning, it probably needs to be refinished or sealed, or table linen’s provided. We were unable to eat at the table comfortably. The washing machine was disgustingly filthy and smelled of mold. There was not enough towels for our family of 5 for a multi day trip but with the condition of the washing machine we didn’t want to use it. Because of the dirty washing machine we were skeptical of the cleanliness of the sheets as well. There was a broken screen on the master bedroom window. The sliding door, family room windows and front door did not have screens so trying to get air circulation was extremely difficult in bear and critter country. Since it was summer the temperature inside was 84 degrees, very uncomfortable with no air flow. Maybe the lack of screens is okay for winter months but would have provided significant heat relief in the summer. The kitchen was not well stocked for preparing meals. The ice maker was dirty and filled with debris. Overall we were extremely disappointed and even left one night early as staying another night was unbearable. Once the cabin gets some much needed TLC and updated furnishings it will be a great spot for families. The location was excellent and the layout very family friendly again it just needs lots of TLC and updating.

Excellent value, great location, tastefully decorated, well appointed - bring your own linens
We had 5 adults and 4 little kids stay at this Carnelian Bay cabin over the holiday break. The hot tub is brand new and fairly well screened from neighbors. It is really the gem of the cabin. The loft has newish, very comfortable beds, a full sized bathroom, and acts as a second living room during the day. The layout makes the cabin feel bigger than 1300 sq feet. While the picture shows 6 chairs at the dining table, we did squeeze all nine of us around it. Its a nice neighborhood and enough space for small kids to sled outside. We loved that the fireplace had a thermostat and a rock hearth to put all the cold, wet gear. No mucky smells or mildew here, very clean. Every imaginable kitchen gadget was there (blender, toaster, potato masher, can openers, 9x13, 9x9, you name it.) The cabin is not modern, but tastefully decorated with very cute hand-painted decorations on the walls, very cozy and homey. Owners were great. Location was wonderful. We had problems with the fireplace, but owners were responsive and are getting it fixed; also, floor board heaters were adequate for heating. There weren't enough linens. 5 smallish bath towels and 1 kitchen towel weren't enough considering we used the jacuzzi so much. Bring your own beach towels for the jacuzzi and extra kitchen towels if you plan to cook. The two king sized beds are very old, flattened out, and hard. They really do need to be replaced. They are so flattened that they hang out over the box springs a couple inches. If you are a stickler about sleeping in comfort, maybe skip this cabin. 1 out of 4 adults in the bedrooms in our group couldn't handle the king beds and snuck up to the comfortable loft twins each night. The other 3 adults felt the beds were not very comfortable, but "good enough". Everything in the cabin is slightly aged and showing wear, but its all very functional. The serving ware and cookware are all mix-matched and cheap, but we had enough to get the job done. Overall, this is an exceptional value for skiing in Tahoe. For the price, I would recommend with the caveats about bringing extra linens and the comfort of the king beds (loft beds were great). We probably won't be back unless they replace the king mattresses or we come with a smaller group that can fit in the cozy loft beds. As usual, you get what you pay for. In this case, I feel we paid a fair price for what we found and it was an excellent value.
