Liberty University Graduation Stay
As advertised this listing is a secluded property where kids and pets can play outside without worry. Our whole family (3 generations) fit comfortably and the little kids loved the jacuzzi while the adults played cards on the back porch. We would definitely recommend this if you prefer hanging out around a fire, barbecuing, and catching up with family. Thank you Michelle for the prompt replies and answering questions.

Wonderful Holiday Get together
The house is beautiful and was large enough to get the family all under the same roof for a Christmas get together. Michelle was responsive to communications in a timely manner and she made us feel very welcome. She even set up a Christmas tree for us and left a delicious cake to share. I would definitely return for another stay.

Fabulous
This house is so cute! Tons of little extras and Michelle and Lonnie checked on us after our first night to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Tons of seating for everyone to eat and hang out together wherever you want to gather. The first pit is in the perfect spot for the adults to enjoy hanging out and still be able to see the kids playing on the playset. And if you’re a sheet snob like I am, you won’t be disappointed. They were so soft. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a house close to the lake and reasonably priced.

Wonderful stay!
The property was beautiful and while it looked small up pulling into the driveway, it was actually very large. It was easily big enough for everyone that came. My kids loved that there was a playground, and everyone enjoyed the seating outside. The owners are extremely helpful and responsive if anything happens to be wrong and everything inside of the house was ready for us and beautiful.

Great place and plenty of room!!
We enjoyed the space and the quiet. A short drive will get you to various attractions on Smith Mountain Lake. We plan to return and bring more of our family. We only used two of the six bedrooms this time, so we could very comfortably fit the rest of our family.

We had a lovely stay in Chatham, the house was just as described, and it comfortably accommodated everyone in our party with room to spare. We really appreciated that there was adequate dining space for all seven of us to eat together both inside and outside. Highly recommended!

reno week
We were in the area doing some work so the location worked out nicely. We had some family that came on different days so it was nice to have the extra bedrooms and room to move around. Due to our long days we only got to use the hot tub once but it was very nice after a long day of work. Thank you for letting us use your home

Amazing view and comfortable home :)
We had such a good time. The view was gorgeous and the house had plenty of room for our family of 5 adults and 3 kids. We even played some pretty serious games of hide & seek. We went to Smith Mountain Lake, went hiking through the forest behind the house, went fishing, played baseball and had campfires...was awesome to have family time in the country. Will definitely visit again!

The property itself was absolutely beautiful!.They said it was handicap accessible, which it is not..there is a long stone driveway which is difficult for elderly to manage..washing machine did not work, but we may have not known correct way to use. Everyone hadxa great time and the area is just beautiful!

You get what you pay for, that is not necessarily bad.
The house is large and spacious and has the beds for the people advertised. The house is certainly a rental and it shows with the wear and tear. The house was clean for the most part but could most definitely have used a deep cleaning. There were numerous dead bugs and small trash in the baseboards, the carpet, and under the couches. The house needs a little renovation for it to be considered truly wheelchair accessible. The kitchen is not and only one bedroom is. The bathroom needs grab bars and a higher toilet for it to be truly accessible. Many of the pans are unusable do to the wear and tear. We went and purchased our own for the week. There were a few issues that came up in our week and the owner was very responsive. I think they need to stop by more frequently and not rely some much on the caregiver to maintain the condition of the property. With a little work this house could be considerably nicer.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly..
The Good: Spacious house; huge master suite with large balcony; beautiful views; kids loved the playground; adults loved the firepit; quiet both inside and outside; private location; reasonably priced; friendly host. The Bad: The railing at the entrance and on the balcony was very loose, all windows were unlocked; all doors had frame damage; tile flooring was not properly cleaned (kids feet were black from walking on it); no wood stove on lower level - just an open space; dingy look and feel. The Ugly: Stained sheets, pillow cases and towels; two bed frames were broken on arrival, the upper double bed and lower queen outside of kitchen (there were cinder blocks under this bed). My father and brother had to quickly repair the beds just so we could sleep in them. The Conclusion: This house has TONS of potential! It needs a deep clean, some paint, new linens/towels, and a couple new bed frames and mattresses (maybe even a king in the master). I wish the hosts invested in these items before a hot tub. They could charge so much more if this "country house" was given some TLC.

Nice property that needs some love
We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was nice to disconnect and relax. We really loved that we could let the kids run out back and play on the playground, with no worries. The house is very spacious and fit our family of 6, with plenty of room to spare! We did feel like the house was not very clean, especially the downstairs/ kitchen area. There was old food and splatters on the kitchen floor and the kitchen floor itself was sticky. We also noticed lots of grime in cabinets and along the baseboards. It appeared that there was also mold growing under the kitchen sink. We did a cleanup when we arrived and felt better about it, but we stayed out of the downstairs- except to cook and eat. The home does need some TLC, but I suppose that is the tradeoff for the price. If you are coming to stay, make sure you save the door code to your phone. We didn't take it seriously that there would be no cell service and found ourselves scrambling at the door to create a hotspot to get access to the code. :)p Overall, it's a nice home and wonderful property that needs some love.

Worked for our purposes
This house was sufficient for our purpose which was a place to gather as a family in order to spend a day or 2 at Smith Mt. Lake. There were nice touches to the house that showed the host really made an effort to make it nice. The sleeping arrangement was well suited to our group of 3 y.o.-adults. Plenty of space to spread out with 2 sitting areas. We were thankful that the house was pet friendly. However, there were a lot of little things overlooked. Things like a bathroom door that would not lock, some disorganized rooms/closets, dusty surfaces and fixtures, blue tape around a fixture left from an old paint job, laundry left in the dryer, a very weedy and messy yard and play area. These things would not have been a big deal in and of themselves but added up to being eyesores and inconveniences and made the house not as cozy and inviting as we had hoped. There were some water issues throughout our weekend that caused some problems. These were out of the host's control as the water pump had recently been replaced. She was very responsive to our texts and made it right for us and we were thankful for that. Overall, I give this 3 stars. It had a lot of potential and a few nice efforts but did not measure up to our expectations.

Memorable Family Gathering
We rented Our Paradise in the Woods to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday. We choose this house because it was large enough to accommodate our family gathering, we could bring our two small dogs and had the option to rent the cabin on the property (which is a lovely cabin), and I could not be happier with our choice. The owner was responsive and answered all my emails within a few hours. The house is in a quiet location surrounded by woods so if you like your privacy this is the place for you. The yard is large, so we were able to play volleyball and corn hole, which was a lot of fun. We cooked out on the grill for lunch and dinner and in the evenings made s’mores by the fire pit. The house boasts a large master bedroom with a private bathroom and deck. There are ample bedrooms and a kitchen that is well stocked with pots, pans and whatever else you may need. The downstairs patio was the perfect place for us to enjoy nature and the beauty that surrounds the house. There are several paths thru the woods and one that leads from the house to "Our Private Wood Cabin" (which we also rented). Although the trail is relatively steep, we enjoyed the exercise and exploring the woods. We had an enjoyable stay and created many fun memories during our stay and would recommend this house and the cabin (which can be rented by itself or along with the house). Thank you, Michelle, for providing the perfect setting for a memorable family gathering.
