The Thunderbird Lodge is an oasis in a vast desert. Lovely trees and grassy lawns throughout the historic property. The rooms are basic but clean and updated. The staff were friendly and attentive. The cafeteria provided tasty food at a reasonable price. I would recommend the Lodge and would gladly visit it again.

This was a wonderful place to stay near Canyon de Chelley. Great cafeteria. Tours offered into the canyon. Fun gift shop.

Found roaches in our room. Room smells bad. Carpet is very old and stinky. Reception clerks are not friendly. They had long sour faces. Unwelcomely. Food choices at the restaurant are limited. Very pricey, too. Sales clerk at the souvenir shop was pleasant.

We enjoyed a two-night stay at the Thunderbird Lodge while visiting Canyon de Chelly. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious and comfortable. The location is very convenient to the park visitor center and the rim drives. We took the Lodge's 4-hour tour of the canyon, which was incredible thanks to our wonderful guide Harold, and it was reasonably priced. We also enjoyed several meals in the cafeteria, which offers freshly cooked meals (Navajo tacos!) in addition to the cafeteria -style offerings.

The property is in a unique location with great access to the canyon. Check in was acceptable. The original rooms were located in back of the office with unpleasant odors. The front desk person reassigned us to accessible rooms in the front that were acceptable. This location has one on-site cafeteria that offers limited food selections at an average quality. The morning front desk manager was busy and less than customer oriented.

During our 1st night of stay we were at the room with barely water coming out of faucet and no hot water in early morning. We thought that they’re conserving the water for there were posted sign at the wall regarding water conservation. Then when we came back in the evening after our hike, the card won’t work to open the door and we found out that they’re moving us out to another room due to water leakage. The 2nd night room looks good with great water flowing and with hot water on our entire stays. Staff were nice and helpful.
