About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Gnome Hill Cottage

512' square shed converted to very cozy mountain bunkhouse style cottage with an open floorplan except for the bathroom. There's a large screened porch (32' x 8'), and a smaller deck with charcoal grill and fire pit. Still a work in progress. Secluded in the woods but very close to several state parks with fishing, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, canoeing & kayaking, and hiking areas. Very woodsy and peaceful.

Be sure to bring your groceries with you. There is a Dollar General about 3 miles away with some food items, and a very nice Ingle's about 12 miles north on Hwy. 11.

If you bring a pet it is required that you text me a picture of your baby(ies) inside the cottage. There is a mandatory $20 pet fee, and an additional $20 will be charged to your account if any "accidents" are left inside, or on the porch and deck. Yes, people have done that.

There is no mandatory cleaning fee, but guests are encouraged to leave a tip for the cleaning staff, especially if you stay multiple nights, or are extra messy. 😀

Note: The ceilings in the living areas are low and under the lofts in the shed. If you're tall, it may feel a little cramped.

Thanks for checking us out!

Peaceful and quiet -- so many stars!
My husband and I came to the cabin for a little weekend getaway and to have a peaceful, quiet Thanksgiving holiday with our puppy and each other. The cabin was ADORABLE, super clean, well stocked with supplies, and we loved how isolated we felt, while still having excellent wifi. We were able to read, play videogames, watch Christmas movies, and relax! Absolutely would stay again!!

Pleasant Cabin Getaway
My partner and I (and our two dogs) greatly enjoyed our time at Charlotte's cabin. It was very quiet and had all the amenities we needed. I will say that the drive up from the main road was more precarious than I was expecting based on the information provided in the listing. I have a midsize SUV, so it was no problem for us, but I would not recommend driving a sedan up the dirt/gravel roads.

Much needed quiet time
My husband and I spent 9 nights at the Gnome Hill cottage. The cabin is very cute and well equipped. We cooked almost every meal including a couple times on the grill. Our last two nights the temperature dropped and we enjoyed sitting on the patio with a fire in the fire place. We had our dog with us who probable enjoyed the vacation as much if not more than us. She loved running through the woods, investigating all the new smells. We explored the near by towns, and went to the Big Foot Festival. The host was extremely helpful and took care of our needs. She made us feel very welcome.

Bad weather
We unfortunately visited at the time hurricane Helene came through and experienced a lot of rain and downed trees but the host was ver accommodating and we got through it together. The trip was fun exciting and a little scary at times but we will gladly go back

Cute cabin, but cleanliness left a lot to be desired
First off, I did give our host the heads up that we had had some issues regarding the property. In response I got a single sentence reply without any sort of apology. On to the review. Pros - Great location, very quiet and peaceful - the cabin was well stocked in terms of things you may need during your stay. - very well prepared for pets. Cons: - The cabin was NOT clean. The toilet was filthy when we arrived, there was what looked like fecal matter smeared on the walls and outside of the toilet and mold in several corners. Dishes had been put away dirty, cobwebs were everywhere, and the best part - the bedsheets were absolutely covered in fur. There were no spare bed linens, and the extra blankets smelled extremely strongly of dog. In fairness to the host, we arrived late and were busy the next day so I didn’t remember to ask about new sheets. That’s on me. However, the bed was very clearly made when we arrived, so someone had to have looked at the sheets. Overall, our stay was ok. The cabin is laid out comfortably and well stocked, but the cleanliness left quite a bit to be desired.

We only stayed 1 night, after a long day of hiking. It was perfect for our purposes. If you’re traveling from here back to Greenville, I can recommend getting breakfast at the TRee House Cafe!

Perfect Overnight in the Mountains
I chose this property for location close to Travelers. Rest, the pretty place chapel, and hiking at Table Rock. We ended up, enjoying all three easily from the property. The home was clean and comfortable and It looked brand new although in reading the guestbook, it has hosted many other travelers. The host was a joy to work with and booking was easy. We highly recommend this home for any visit to the mountains.

Gnome Hill Cottage looked exactly like the photos. The place is quiet. Recommend not driving there at night as the roads are dirt/gravel and there are very few lights. Recommended.
