Great Place and Great Location
This property was just what we needed in terms of size for our group of 4 adults, and proximity to all the places we like to visit. It’s situated very close to some great hiking areas and wineries along the trail. The bathrooms and kitchen were stocked with all our needs, the place was very clean and comfortable, and communication was easy and very quick with Steve. We will definitely look to stay here again in the future. Thanks again Steve!

Peaceful retreat.
It was perfect for our family to visit our son at college. Our highlights were how peaceful and beautiful the area is. Very quiet. Only the sounds of nature! We also loved visiting with the horses next door. We would definitely consider staying here again for another visit. Thank you Steve!

Always great!
We love this home away from home. It is so comfortable and has all the amenities we could want. Thanks for a stay that was far and away better than a similarly priced hotel!

September in Southern IL
We’d stayed here once before, and it was just as good as last time. The house has a good layout for families, and it sits in a convenient location for the wineries/activities. Also the deer were out every morning/night.

Beautiful home on wine trail
This was a great stay with a beautiful home located very centrally to all we wanted to do and see. Saw deer a couple of evenings and really enjoyed our time there. The owner is very nice and easy to work with. This home was furnished and stocked the best as any I have stayed in. We hope to revisit in the fall. The countryside around here is lovely as well.

We had a great time as my dad and two sons and grandson could stay together, beats a motel room any day, very nice place and well stocked with items needed that you would not bring with in a short stay. Thank you kindly and we will be back Dan

Clean and Neat House - Perfect southern IL getaway!
This is a very clean house with everything you will need for your stay. Steve had great and quick communication with us before our arrival. The pictures of the property show it well. Lots of games and books to enjoy in addition to the nice property and clean house. Nice TV and stereo sound bar too. We'll certainly return.

Quiet retreat on the wine trail
This spot is a gem! It is perfectly located in the heart of the Shawnee Hills wine trail just minutes from downtown Cobden. The home is on a quiet country road with a fantastic view of the sunrise. There were all the amenities available, good coffee selection, and an added bonus of a snack basket! The front porch was our favorite place! We will definitely be back! Thank you!

Cozy country home that is perfect for a large group
A group of friends and I stayed at this charming country home while running the Tunnel Hill 100 and enjoyed every minute of our stay! Steve provided a basket of goodies and a variety of amenities which were a nice treat! We all had plenty of space and enjoyed the large family style table for meals and games. Overall, you won't be disappointed with this home. We had everything that we could have wanted or needed!

Great house in S. IL for outdoors and wine trail
Conveniently located for Southern IL excursions. Very good privacy on low-traffic road despite open ground. Dark skies for star gazing. Fields, brush, and woods for wildlife viewing from front porch. Comfortable, pretty well-equipped, and well stocked for meals and relaxing indoors. Minor complaints: the well pump was a bit noisy, and the nice garage wasn't usable.

Clean, Comfortable and Serene
Reminded me of Funny Farm. The owner promised deer every day and yep, every morning (like he released them on the property). This place is like brand new. Floors, walls, nice furniture, real comfortable beds. Nothing cheap about it. Spotless clean, responsive furnace, lots of water pressure, all the comforts. Smack in the middle of the Shawnee Forest. We just sat on the porch, admiring the sun rise above the fog. As peaceful as you could want, but wineries only minutes to the East or West. Top notch.

4th July problem solving and Wedding accommodation
I housed my family here from overseas for my wedding and they loved it. The location is beautiful and private, we were able to hang out as a family both inside and outside. We used the grill and outdoor space on July 4th and had an uninterrupted time. The best part of the experience was the communication with the property owner and his ability to fix important issues. With my family being from abroad they needed WiFi to contact me. However on arrival the WiFi wasn’t working. I explained the necessity of internet connection and he was willing to contact Verizon and myself to fix the issue, finally sending over someone with a new WiFi box on July 4th of all days. This was very important to me and my family as I needed them to be in close contact and be able to find the place I was getting married!!! 5 stars all around, would definitely stay again.

The best!
We loved this house, one of the best we have stayed in. First, the owner is super responsive and an all around great guy. Second, the house itself is just what we needed! The floors you see in the photos are even better in person. The beds were all comfortable, the living room was great for hanging out and the kitchen is well stocked. We cooked every night and enjoyed it. The goodie basket was well loved by the teenagers, as was the direct tv. It’s easy enough to set up a hotspot on your phone, cellular service is fine. We also greatly appreciated the laundry room, after many hiking trips we needed to get the mud and sweat out. This really is a beautiful patch of country, it’s hard to believe you are in Illinois when hiking the rocks and hills. I also highly recommend touring the Rolling Oaks Alpaca Ranch - even if you aren’t fiber lovers. The animals are super friendly and lovable and the owners are very informative. You can book a tour online. Thanks again for a great stay!

Wine Country Getaway
Our group of women wanted to enjoy the Shawnee Wine Trail and southern Illinois. This house was in the perfect location. It was centrally located to all the wineries. Close to Giant State Park Lodge (roaring fire, wine and excellent fried chicken!) and several small towns. The home was perfect for our group. It has a large living room to gather in comfortably, a huge table to drink your morning coffee around, and bedrooms that are spacious with plenty of closet space. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. There are 2 bathrooms in this house with plenty of hot water -- a bonus! In the morning, we took a beautiful walk down the road and enjoyed the falling leaves. We all agreed we would stay here again. Steve was an excellent host - and even had a darling pillow on the couch that alluded to Moms Making Memories. We did indeed make many wonderful memories (and even took a picture with the pillow to remember our fabulous weekend in So IL wine country). Thank you Steve for all of the personal touches...they were much appreciated!
