Explore a diverse range of flowers, plants and shrubs and soak up the delicious sights and smells of these stunning gardens.

Spread over three separate locations at York Street, Chatfield and Mount Goliath, Denver Botanic Gardens offers much more than traditional botanic gardens and is a must-do on any Denver itinerary. The Denver Botanic Gardens at York Street features 42 individual gardens that contain over 700 species of plants native to Colorado and the west of North American. This urban oasis of calm is the perfect spot to escape the bustling city crowds. In the Japanese Garden, gaze at the pretty bonsai trees from the Rocky Mountain region. Make your way to the South African Plaza – home to a number of plants including lilies, red hot pokers (also known as mother-in-law’s-tongue!) and geraniums. Escape the hot sun in the shady Woodland Mosaic and get some tips on growing woodland shrubs and perennials.Sitting prettily along the banks of Deer Creek, the Denver Botanical Gardens at Chatfield is a working farm that draws a wide range of visitors with diverse interests. Ornithologists flock here to observe different species of birds that flit about the natural meadow. Trampers come to explore over four kilometres of nature trails and history buffs appreciate the historic Hildebrand ranch and the Deer Creek schoolhouse which dates from 1874. Music lovers will be pleased to know that these versatile gardens also play host to a summer series of concerts. When it’s time to rest, pick a spot along the banks of the river, crack open the picnic hamper, then lie back and soak up the peace and serenity.Outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers will be particularly taken with the Mount Goliath gardens, located within the Arapaho National Forest. This alpine wildflower tundra has a number of pretty winding paths that feature gorgeous forget-me-nots, fairy primrose, purple fringe and chiming bells. If you want to discover more about the plants that inhabit this diverse landscape, take a tramp with a knowledgeable guide. With exceptional views of Denver and the Rocky Mountain plains, Mount Goliath rises head and shoulders above other botanic gardens in Colorado and is well worth a visit.
