Whale Pointe - Oregon Beach Vacations

Whale Pointe is a charming two bedroom cottage with a full size loft sitting on a high bank near Rocky Creek, just south of Depoe Bay. This vacation cottage is perfect for one or two couples. With a large semi-private oceanfront deck, you can easily hear the whales as they come up to feed along the shoreline or rub on the rocks. The cottage has a small kitchen, just right for preparing an easy meal. If you prefer to dine out, visit one of the many wonderful restaurants nearby in Depoe Bay. On the first floor is an oceanfront bedroom with a queen bed, a sitting area and a gas stove. A kitchen with a mid size fridge, a bathroom and the laundry room are also on this main level. Upstairs is a family room/living room area, which also doubles as a private bedroom. With fabulous views from this upper story room, you will be hard pressed to decide if you want to watch the flat panel TV or the waves crashing into the shore! An electric fireplace heats this room and provides fine ambiance. A dining table for four is a nice place to enjoy the evening sunset while eating or playing games. Comfortable and cozy, this cottage is perfect for a small family. This dog friendly cottage also has many books, board games, beach toys, cable TV, a CD player and Wi-Fi for added entertainment. The expansive outdoor deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the ocean. During the winter, sit in the enclosed portion of the deck where you can watch the storms without getting wet or blasted with wind. Guests can enjoy the semi-private common space shared with the other home on site and oceanfront deck for your outdoor entertainment. Check out Whale Pointe with your loved ones today!

We can't say enough about the amazing view from every window in this property. Loved sitting on the deck and just looking out on the water. The loft area has plenty of games, dvds, etc. Comfortable beds and plenty of room.

Asked to check in an hour early, great response to say yes. Got to the property, two key lockboxes, they are not marked as the email said. Door was open when we arrived. Stepped in, sink full of crusty, dirty dishes. Sink had hair in it, floor needed swept, couch had crumbs and stains on it. Asked if our early arrival disrupted the cleaning, no response the whole stay. Made us question if anything was clean. Family of 4, was provided 3 towels. Went to make the hide a bed for our son, they had sheets but the only blankets were balled up on the floor of the closets. Smoke detector goes off if you try to use the stove, before you even put in food. View was great, close to Newport, Depoe Bay and Lincoln City. Was really put off by how dirty it was. Will stick to hotels from here out.

One day into our vacation, we noticed a propane leak at our rental. We contacted property management, and they immediately moved us to another location within minutes.The new rental was just as good, if not better! We had a nice peaceful time in Depoe Bay.

Wonderful retreat with incredible view
Cozy, comfortable, clean unit and right in line with description. Incredible weather, wave, bird, and WHALE watching throughout our 3-day stay. Will definitely plan to return and would recommend to anyone. Was especially great to have our sweet little old lady dog along. Would not recommend for larger active canines.

We stayed 4-nights for our 11 year anniversary to enjoy the sights from Lincoln City to Newport. This location was perfect with spectacular views. The home could use a little TLC, however the beds were comfortable and the views were breathtaking. We highly recommend bringing binoculars to fully enjoy the whale watching and fishing/whale watching boats. We even met the owners and they were very friendly. We’re so glad they offer their space for others to enjoy.

The view was spectacular. Nice deck for the dogs to hang out on as well. Kitchen was super small, but it was fine as I went out to dinner and breakfast the next morning. The upstairs was lovely and comfortable.

The Perfect Retreat
I chose this cottage because it sits atop a craggy cliff overlooking the ocean with no beach in sight in order to avoid tourists, as I needed to relax and recharge. My stay was everything I wanted; quiet and relaxing with astounding views. I literally spent most of my time at the windows upstairs reading and watching the ocean (so glad I brought binoculars!). I will note that if you or your children get bored easily, this is probably not an ideal choice as you will have to drive a mile or so for beaches and shops. But if it's just you and your partner, it will be ideal.

Very beautiful place to stay! The location is perfect and the scenery is breathtaking. The house was very clean and easy to find as well. You can see the ocean from the bedrooms which made it easy to relax. We highly recommend staying here if given the chance.

Had a lovely time.
The location was absolutely perfect! We appreciate that they allow pets! The home could use a little work as far as squeaky floors and getting the carpets cleaned, but we went and took our pets, so it was pretty much what we expected. The owners were extremely nice and the location can't be beat! Great for a small family or couple. Nice that there was a bedroom downstairs so that Grandma could sit in her room and watch the whales. :) We hope to be able to come back again!

The location and view are stunning. The condition not so much.
While the description and photos on VRBO were true, with stunning views from both floors and modest decor throughout, one can't get a sense of the condition until arrival. And the condition isn't great. My impression is that there are regular visitors that have kids and dogs, as it's equipped, stocked and stained like it. The views were truly amazing, and why I booked it. But had I known: the sliding door to the deck and ocean would be missing (alas, no ocean breeze); the kitchen window would be moldy and with a torn screen; the carpeting upstairs would have stains all over it; the couch would have stains on it; there would be dead flies on all the windows and under the bed sheets; dirty dishes/glassware would be found under the beds; and in general it would smell like it had been cleaned weeks ago and then closed up, I probably wouldn't have booked it. This isn't intended to be biting or a judgment of the hosts, as this property is managed by a third party (Oregon Vacation Rentals), and posted on VRBO. Just set your expectations appropriately if you're looking for that perfect getaway, in a clean, comfortable place with a view, because this likely isn't it.

What a perfect place to stay. We loved the little house. I wish we would have found the second floor the first night we were there and not the last night. I was puzzled that we didn’t have a second bedroom, but just figured I had chosen a different one…haha little did I know that there was a hidden door behind the storage room door. I accidentally found it after dinner our last night there. It made our stay so much more. The view was spectacular.

Bittersweet Mother's Day
On May 8, 2020, my sister lost her son, and I lost my first nephew. This year it also fell on Mother's Day, which made this year more difficult. The decision was made at the last minute, to get away, and I was delighted to see that property, without any obstruction, was available. I needed to Zen and cry and be alone and reminisce. This little cottage provided all the peace I needed. The views were amazing, the tranquility was even more so. Thank you for sharing your property.
