The person on the phone did not understand english well, but I was able to use google translator. Tell them that you booked through expedia or whatever service. The staff was amazing. "This is a beautiful property with lake Toya on one side and Yoteii mountain on the other. The rooms are the largest we have seen in Japan with a beautiful sitting area and large bathroom with a huge tub both overlooking Lake Toya! This made for excellent firework viewing from the room for the local festival. They also had a nice common area in the hotel with some tables, coffee, tea and hot water to use. The location was convenient to drive to Toyaka Onsen town for food, but also to Rusutsu...

"Check-in was a little odd using a machine, but there was an employee who helped us. The nearby lake was beautiful, although we didn't have the clearest view from our room. The free sake was fun in the lobby. Breakfast was also tasty. The Japanese-style mattress (futon) could have used a bit more padding."
