The house is located in the New River Valley and is on Claytor Lake directly across from the state park's public boat launch. The very quiet neighborhood has a private road with little traffic and is conveniently located within 5 minutes of Exit 101 of Interstate 81. The house sits directly on Claytor Lake with a dock for your own private access to the water. Only 30 minutes to Virginia Tech and 20 minutes to Radford University, and 3 minutes from Claytor Lake State Park. There are many wineries and breweries throughout the area. The area is great for a summer lake vacation, a fall get-away to enjoy the beautiful fall colors, or a peaceful winter retreat.

All areas of the house, decks, and dock are open for access to guests. The dock available for use by renters and their guests for sun-bathing and swimming, there is space for renters to dock their own boat. The boat lift will be used by the property owners occasionally and the rental does not include use of the owner's boat or boat lift.

When you arrive, you will follow Honeysuckle Ln until you get to W.H. Smith Drive and follow the one-lane gravel road to the front of the lake. The house will be the paved driveway on the right. There is space for a maximum of three vehicles in the driveway. All vehicles must be parked in the driveway and never on neighboring properties. The road coming into the area is tight, so if you plan on bringing a trailer or larger vehicle of any type contact the host for help with where you can park it.

You’ll have the property all to yourself. The owner may store his watercraft on the dock, so they may be by to use those occasionally. There are two security cameras on the property they are set to record video only and have views of the driveway, street and dock.

Rainy week, but we had fun
We had 4 adults and a 3 year old and 2 dogs for the week. The house was clean, large kitchen area and living room. We encountered rain each day and the effects of Hurricane Helene. The weather could have been better, but we had fun anyway. I would recommend this home.

Quiet stay
Overall the property meet expectations. The home was clean and well put together. Hot tub was clean and fully functional. Fishing was good and easy with a spacious dock. The driveway is steep with limited turn around space but other than that no issues.

Very dated. Failure to replace broken and ripped items
Very dated. All of the deck furniture was broken and cushions were ripped. For a property on the lake that promotes outdoor activities this was very disappointing. Inside was dated but clean. Hot tub was filthy and I had to call the property management to come put chemicals in it. It was not safe to enter the whole stay. Very dangerous. Also the driveway is extremely steep. One car maximum. Beds were comfortable. Good thing we were really only there to sleep.

Beautiful, Peaceful Stay
Serenity House worked well for our family during VT's spring 2024 graduation. The property is located on a quiet, no wake zone, knob of Claytor Lake. It was the perfect place for fishing and swimming. The home was appropriately advertised. Both the home and decking are older but clean and tidy. The directions were a bit misleading, Waze actually got us there easily. There should be more description of the very small road leading in, the steepness of the driveway and tiny turnaround areas. It's a good thing we didn't bring our pickup trucks - they wouldn't have made the turnarounds or fit in the driveway. Overall - we enjoyed our stay at Serenity House!

Clean and Spacious
We enjoyed our stay here. Nice big kitchen area, TVs in every room which the kids enjoyed. Hot tub was in a great spot where you could look out over the lake while we stayed warm in the 40degree weather :) The driveway is quite steep and short so keep that in mind as you approach it for the first time.

Serenity House - VT Football Game
My daughter attended Virginia Tech and we have visited many many times and stayed in Blacksburg. We decided to stay just outside and came across this listing on Claytor Lake. The house was perfect for 6 guests. The hot tub was clean and worked great. The location was very convenient to the highway and VT. Great value. Water pressure was a little low and the driveway was very difficult to maneuver. Recommend modifying listing to instruct guests of one way road to house and to use the turn around at the end of the road.

Enjoyed our stay!
We enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, kitchen was well-stocked, and the hot tub and docks were enjoyable. The driveway is a bit steep and narrow. However, it is managable. I would stay here again, for sure!

Spring getaway
Though small, the property feels spacious. It is not fancy but just right for family with 2 small boys. The hot tub was filthy but the property manager was very prompt to call and send someone out and correct the pH. Warning: there is no dishwasher so if you use a lot of dishes (as we do) expect some work. The biggest surprises were how to access the property down the rocky diet road (not visible from pictures), get up the steep driveway (impossible if it was snowy or icy) and turn the car around! Tips would have been helpful, but we figured it out. The grill worked well and the lake deck is new. TVs and internet worked well! It is a nice, quiet spot to look at the lake and relax, close to 81 and visit several nearby towns.

First VRBO
This was our first time using VRBO but with the kids getting older we need more space than a hotel. We absolutely loved this house. The hot tub has a beautiful view of the lake, my son caught the biggest bass he ever has off of the really nice dock and the house had everything you could need. A wonderful long weekend even if the weather was a little chilly.

Clean, Quiet, and Quaint
When we stayed (early March) the lake and its surroundings were peaceful and quiet. The house is small, but accommodated our family of eight, and dog, just fine. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, and the host was quickly available when we had any questions. The kayaks and fishing gear with your own dock was a huge plus.

Thanksgiving treat
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and welcoming (a big plus for Thanksgiving!) and the location on Clayton Lake was very beautiful. Hard to believe it was so close to the interstate. Sitting on the upper deck of the dock watching lake life during the day and the stars at night was a treat.
