"Fab stay, really helpful hosts"

"Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of York sights. Breakfast was delicious, but it cost £15 per person. The cook staff was wonderful. Two small problems… be sure to tell them in advance if you need a parking spot. We almost didn’t get one. It was £10 per night for parking with the hotel. It would have cost more in the nearby lot. Also, no one went in our room to freshen the dishes or towels. All that said, it was clean and comfortable and in a great location. "

"We stayed in room 3 for 2 nights. We adore York, such a fascinating and historic City, but this was the first time we had visited at Christmas time. The hosts are wonderful people very helpful, accommodating and eager to to please. The room was large with a very nicely presented bathroom. Lovely hot shower and plenty of hot water during our stay. Only negatives and they were minor. The bed was particularly comfortable. A lot of roll together. The room was also roasting hot and when we opened...

"Excellent breakfast. Staff very attentive upon arrival and at breakfast. Slight heating (lack of) our annexe room quickly resolved. Nice clean room. Nice pub near to the property(Volunteer arms)Hotel slightly on the expensive side for value for money!!"

"Lovely old pub with log burner in bar, friendly staff and locals, made very welcome. Stayed three nights in the four poster room, situated outside of main building but ideal for our two small dogs. Home cooked meals, very good and generous, good range of ales, most from adjoining brewery. Located in the countryside, highly recommended."
