Spanning over one thousand hectares of forest and field, this stunning scenic area is a must-see for outdoor aficionados.

An idyllic setting for tramping, walking and golfing, Edwin and Percy Warner Parks are two neighbouring public parks opened in 1927 on land donated by the Warner Family. Tucked away just 14 kilometres from Nashville’s urban streets, these picturesque open spaces, more commonly referred to as Warner Parks, are two of the city’s most popular recreational spots. Immerse yourself in the surrounding beauty of this spectacular nature reserve, where a number of different species of animal and bird coexist in harmony, not to mention the variety of trees and shrubs that flourish here. The Warner Parks Nature Center is the ideal starting point for an exploration of this vast area. The ethos of the centre is to promote environmental awareness and to protect the parks’ natural resources. With a plethora of environmental education and outdoor recreation programmes, it is also a popular destination for school trips. The Susanne Warner Bass Learning Center, which includes a natural history museum, is also located here. Or make your way to the Emily Warner Dean Administration building where you’ll find a working organic garden, wildflower garden and fern garden.Golfing enthusiasts can spend a peaceful day on the rolling greens of the nine-hole Percy Warner Golf Course or the more challenging 18-hole Harpeth Hills Golf Course.Fitness fanatics will be pleased to know that the parks boast 9 excellent tramping trails. These are suited to a variety of different levels so be sure to grab a map from the Nature Center before setting off. For those who prefer a little less action, the parks also offer car routes. Don’t worry about missing out, the views from these routes are equally as breathtaking, so take the opportunity to pull over and bask in the magnificent panoramas over the parks. If you fancy a flutter, be sure to visit Warner Parks on the second Saturday in May when the Iroquois Steeplechase takes place. Spend a day at the races and soak up the glitz and glamour of one of the most anticipated events on the Nashville calendar.
