This particular trip was not exactly a vacation. Members of my family gathered to fulfill my father’s wish to have his ashes spread near his birthplace of Baker, NV. I wanted to find someplace that would allow the entire family to gather and spend quality time together, rather than being partitioned off in hotel rooms, and this wonderful home fit the bill beautifully.
The property is spacious, beautifully decorated, and has more than enough space for everyone to spread out and relax. The large kitchen allowed multiple generations to gather and prepare dinner together, which was much better than dining in a local restaurant. There are ample plates, dishes, and cooking tools.
Local wildlife is plentiful, and using the spotting scope (a well thought out amenity) we were able to see deer and elk grazing nearby. We did find a small rattlesnake in the back yard, which was safely relocated over the back fence.
Beds were comfortable, and everyone reported that they slept well.
The basement game room wasn’t heavily utilized, but is a great space to relax. The arcade machine is loaded with hundreds of classic retro arcade games, and the theater has a sound system that will rock your socks off!
All in all, while our visit wasn’t for the happiest of reasons, we could not have asked for a better place to stay. We are already working on planning another, longer visit to spend some more quality time in this beautiful part of Nevada.
