Owners could not have been more welcoming and accomodating.
We stayed here whilst visiting Thrusford Spectacular show.
We had a lovely lunch before we we left for the show all plates were empty and everyone enjoyed the meal.
Would highly recommend this friendly in for a stay.
Hotel was under new ownership and needs considerable work. Heating failed whilst we were there, car park not lit and surprisingly despite a log burner bar area was cold. We had two bedrooms and one was very small hardly a double with no wardrobe. Use of shower a challenge and it leaked all over the floor. Rooms were not serviced and we were advised we should have requested this to happen after the event. Owner(s) were friendly and food good but overall stay disappointing and one of the worst we have stayed in for our annual pilgrimage to the Christmas show at Thursford.
We booked a inn with a room for a special occasion only to find that the pub was shut. This was such a shame as the pub was in the middle of nowhere very disappointing. If they had told us before we arrived we would of cancelled. Staff very friendly and helpful but still not good enough
Fantastic stay at the hotel. Fully Covid compliant with masking fully in place.
Laura was friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic.
An ideal place to stay for both trips to the coast and Norwich.
Hotel was beautiful. Rooms were clean and Very comfortable. We had an evening meal. The menu had plenty of choice and the food was delicious. Hostess Laura was friendly and welcoming. Some covid restrictions were still place, which made us all feel safe. Excellent stay.

A disappointing experience…
Laura was welcoming on arrival but the place is in a Covid time warp, not seemingly keeping up with the latest guidelines. The inn’s bar is closed but there is outside seating. OK on a warm night but the nights aren’t seasonally warm. This is not made clear at the time of booking. The website shows the bar etc but it was only when I called to confirm the booking a couple of days beforehand that limited facilities were mentioned. It was too late to change by then. It should be made crystal clear at the time of booking. Breakfast was of good quality but tea and orange juice is served in paper cups still even though crockery and cutlery is used. There is no housekeeping but Laura does give her number to message her in case anything is needed. Rooms are clean but there is lots of noise from pipe work and running water from neighbouring bathrooms. No alarm clock was needed! At £120 a night per room, with no housekeeping and no indoor facilities to use i.e. bar or lounge, we felt it was overpriced as no account is made of the drastically reduced service. There was one toilet roll for the room despite a four night booking. We had to ask for a new one and then had to text a reminder. A new one was delivered but it was wet! The next one was OK. Laura did supply hot chocolate sachets as a special request for one of our group which was appreciated. Overall, a very disappointing stay and not value for money.
The host was lovely and it was really reassuring to see the COVID precautions that the business was taking even though restrictions have been lifted. Lovely clean and comfortable room, will stay again when in the area on business.
Room was lovely and clean, the Inn was a very old style pub, plenty of private parking. Large full english breakfast, you could taste the fresh eggs and norfolk bacon. The bar was fine but could have done with more comfy seating.
The Blue Boar is a lovely warm old inn, full of character. We were made extremely welcome. The food is excellent as is the standard of cleanliness. When we are next back in that area we will definitely stay again!..
Laura is a great front of house host, very friendly, and her husband cooks beautiful food. Generous portions, and a great choice of food.
The building is beautiful and was very festive with a lovely cosy feel for Christmas.
As we were staying for the Thursford Christmas spectacular, they opened the restaurant early for our evening meal before we went to the show, and we chose what time we wanted breakfast too.
