"The lodge is set on a low hill in the countryside a few kilometers outside Hanmer Springs and the views from the units are incredible. The suite itself was spacious, immaculately clean, and a gorgeous open layout. There is no kitchen and the on-site restaurant is only open at select times, so you'll need to venture into Hanmer Springs for some of your meals. The check-in was simple and smooth, and the Tharindu (Front Office Manager) was friendly and accommodating. Hanmer Springs itself is great for a two (maybe three) day stay, with hot and cold pools, so everything for the family. Hanmer Springs golf course is a challenging par 68 with a couple of memorable holes. All in all, if you're heading for this part of New Zealand Braemar Lodge is a sure bet. Request a room on the upper floor if you want the best view."

"We are frequent visitors to Hanmer Springs and have stayed in a variety of accommodation types and locations. The St James is my favourite thus far. From the friendly and personal check-in experience to the generous luxurious, immaculately clean and well appointed room ,The St James did not disappoint. The location was fabulous - adjacent to the shops and town centre, close walking distance to the thermal pools, recreational activities, restaurants and cafes along with outdoor walking tracks and amenities. I will definitely be back , this time for a longer stay. "
