Fern Creek Cabins @ New River Gorge, Secluded, White Water, Hiking, Hot Tub.

Conveniently located near popular area attractions and outdoor activities, Fern Creek Cabins offer year round affordable vacation lodging in the beautiful mountains of southern West Virginia. Our two cabins sit on 38 private acres of pristine hemlock forrest near the north rim of the New River Gorge National River in Lookout, WV. You can check out our one-room cabin listing at #395725.

Both cabins feature hot tub, outdoor fire-pit with chairs and firewood, gas grill, fully equipped kitchens. All sheets and towels are provided. Fishing in small pond on property great for kids to catch small bass.

For those who just want to relax, Fern Creek Cabins offers plenty of space to roam about the property. Our cabins have comfortable porches equipped with grills and hot tubs, outdoor fire pits, and lots of beautiful yard space for throwing horseshoes or playing softball.

We welcome well behaved pets charging $40 pet fee for cleaning .

We ask our guests to not smoke in our cabins.

While our 2 cabin's share the peaceful seclusion of the Appalachians, it is but a few short miles over New River Gorge Bridge to downtown Fayetteville, named 'Coolest Small Town in America.' Come visit and take a walk around. You’ll find a vibrant shopping district and fantastic restaurants, windows to browse with lots to buy, and a lovely town park.

'Endless Wall Trail' lies a mile around the corner which tours one of the wonders of the New River Gorge -- the unbroken cliffline known as the Endless Wall, which follows the rim of the gorge and offers access to dozens of bolted climbing routes. Breathtaking panoramas await hikers as the trail leads along the top of the cliffs through gnarled pines, mossy boulders, and rhododendron thickets.

Country oasis
Wonderful 3 nights in this cozy, well stocked cabin. My kids and husband enjoyed the well-kept hot tub. The kids enjoyed the swings, and spotting wildlife around the cabin and on the way in and out. The deer and frogs provided much entertainment!!! Hot dogs and S’mores made over the campfire in the fire pit were an enjoyable last evening activity. Close to the whitewater and lakeside activities of the trip, but much more reasonable prices than onsite lodging. Multiple food choices within 15-20 mins, as well as walmart and dollar stores for added snacks and drinks were close and convenient. Gravel road was well- maintained and directions were clear and helpful!

I was looking for a small secluded place to get away and enjoy peace and quiet. I certainly found it in Fern Creek. The setting is beautiful, the accommodations are perfect and the amenities were first class. You are close to a plethora of outdoor activities and yet far enough off the beaten path too relax and enjoy tranquility. I will be returning soon to spend more time.

Great stay
The cabin is exactly as described. The grounds keeper went out of his way to grab trash we hadn’t taken over yet while we were out. A lot of reviews mentioned the road being bad, but it’s just a typical narrow dirt road. I can see it maybe being a little intimidating if you never drive on unpaved roads, but it is very well maintained, just go slow and be mindful while passing people and you won’t have an issue.

Beautiful, pastoral setting with pond
This cabin met every expectation except one. Well equipped kitchen, front and back porches (the rear faced a pond), clean hot tub, fire pit ready to light with extra wood. Decor and furnishings are dated but comfortable. Lots of games and DVDs. Window air conditioners worked well. (However, between the air-conditioners and the heavy drapes that covered the windows, the interior is a little dark.) It was not a problem for us as the goal was to be outside as much as possible. Unfortunately, the mattresses were creaky, lumpy and uncomfortable.

Would come back
Cons: Not motorcycle friendly. I would be very cautious with a normal sized car also as the gravel road leading to the property was long and uneven. Torn up livingroom chair on the back porch was odd. Livingroom furniture looked like old second hand furniture. Seemed like they bought one of the cheapest models of hot tub. It did the job though. Not all windows had coverings. The neighbors who had to drive right by could easily see everything inside the unit at night. Pros: very quiet. Can see the stars so easily. Well stocked kitchen. I’ve been to other places that barely give you a crappy pan. This unit had thought of everything which made it easy to cook. Very clean unit. Due to the cleanliness I would come back in a minute.

Nice getaway
The cabin was a little dated, but very clean and tidy. It was fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, linens, etc. The beds were very comfortable. There was plenty to see and do in the local area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. To all future guests: be advised that the hot tub is located on the front porch. We discovered that there’s someone living in a small outbuilding across the way with a direct view of the hot tub.

Fantastic cabins!
Amazing location, quiet, secluded but easy access to town. Amazing views of stars at night. Minutes to hiking/climbing destinations. Cabin was flawless - kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could ask for, w/d included, a/c and heat made it very comfortable, grill and hot tub worked flawlessly, nice firepit with wood available. Cell service is great, no wifi but then why are you staying out here? Excellent directions/communication from the owners and caretaker of the property. Couldn't ask for a better stay!

Short Weekend
Cute little cabin. Very quiet and isolated. The road getting to the property is a little rough and might be difficult without an all wheel drive vehicle. The kitchen has everything we needed to make all of our meals there. Lots of heaters and air conditioners to keep the temperature comfortable. The hot tub was perfect. Very serene to hear the deer passing through while we sat.

Gorge-ous Views
This property was perfect for our family of 5. Was very clean and had everything we needed for cooking in, bonfires and relaxation. Though it feels extremely remote, it is close to the attractions we were here to visit. We LOVED rafting on the New Lower River through Ace Adventure Resort, even made a trip back for the water park the next day. Endless Wall trail was a beautiful hike and very close to home. My son spent time fishing the small pond and playing with Buddy the care taker’s dog. The kids spent a lot of time on the tree swing and in the hot tub. We brought our dog and even he loved having so much space to explore on the property and the evening visit by all the deer. The road to the property is gravel and long so recommend arriving in the daylight hours. Thanks Tommy for supplying our fire wood and being so responsive. Definitely will visit again!

Peaceful Getaway
We had a wonderful time at Fern Creek Cabins! The cabin itself was clean and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. We were particularly impressed with the quality of the pots and pans! The surrounding property is idyllic with perfectly mown grass, a cute pond and lovely trees. You can watch the fireflies from the hot tub and enjoy coffee on the covered porch. There is even a friendly neighborhood dog who will come say hello. We would highly recommend!
