View works by acclaimed American artists and world-class traveling exhibitions at this museum, which is set in the scenic grounds of a city park.

Stand in awe of 20th-century masterpieces and discover new and exciting artists in the Huntsville Museum of Art, one of the hubs of visual art in Alabama. Paintings by Warhol and Whistler are displayed with other American works in the main collection, complemented by touring exhibitions of international artists. Wander through multiple galleries, with enough space for a diversity of styles and themes.

The museum was founded in 1970, but its increasing popularity and growing collection meant that in 1998 it moved to new, larger premises, where it remains today. Peruse the permanent collection comprising more than 3,000 objects, with its primary focus on American work.

Browse the work of contemporary masters in the museum's main displays. The collection spotlights regional artists and also features intricate glass work and silver statues by the luxury Buccellati jewellery firm. Note the Sellars collection, showcasing work by American female artists. To learn about the progress of American art and its different influences, sign up for a guided tour through the galleries.

Don’t miss the temporary exhibitions, which feature work from around the world. Past visiting presentations have included an exhibition of Asian glasswork, as well as touring works by Rembrandt and Rubens.

Bring your children to the museum for a hands-on learning experience. The Stender Family Interactive Education Galleries give kids the opportunity to engage with art history in A Walk Through Time, an exhibition that traces the different stages of the past. Create your own masterpiece at the ART LAB, which teaches children basic painting and drawing skills.

Take a break from exploring the galleries in the on-site café or stroll around the tranquil grounds of the surrounding Big Spring Park. Find a shaded spot under a tall tree to sit or look for the pretty water features dotted around the grounds.

Huntsville Museum of Art is just over 15 minutes from Huntsville International Airport by car. Park your car in the on-site lot or pay for metered parking on adjacent roads. The museum is open from Tuesday through Sunday and has a reduced admission price on Thursday evenings.
