"We found The Big Island Rereat to be just as good as the pictures! It was easy to find right off Ali'i drive. Check in and out were both very easy. We stayed in the Ocean View room which was just as advertised. There is no AC which is in the room description so there was no surprise. Ceiling fan and to other larger standing fans kept the air moving through the room. There is a common area which has beach chairs to use and some snorkel gear and boogie boards as well and an outdoor kitchen with 2 BBQs and full sized fridge for anyone there can use The only challenge on the property was the parking. There is enough parking for the rooms, it's just a little tight especially if you wnat to back-in. I would suggest Not renting a large SUV. Overall the facility worked out perfecly for our vacation."

"The staff were professional and kind. The property was located on the water and the view was outstanding!! My unit was clean and I felt very safe. Every unit within these places may be slightly different, mine was dated, lacking some kitchen pieces (tongs and sheet pan, and my bed was so soft my back sunk in. Don’t read too negatively into those observations…..I was thrilled to be there and eating and sleeping were not issues!! The balcony was phenomenal, overlooking the ocean (cue the whales!). The pool and hot tub were a fun evening gathering spot for others staying at the Hotel. Grocery store was 2 miles away and a convenience store with essentials and liquor was right next door. "
