Kalacha Beach, also known as Paliem Beach, is an idyllic seaside getaway, mostly untouched by tourism development. Discover a simpler way of life at this scenic beach and its tranquil lagoon, where only a couple of restaurant huts are testament to the passing of the last few decades. Visit Kalacha Beach to experience its rejuvenating freshwater lagoon and laid-back atmosphere. Join a music session around a campfire and relax in this community off the tourist trail.
Explore the beach to see its lush forest surroundings. The beach has some rocky parts, but these can be easily navigated to find the scenic hot springs lagoon, known as Vagkolam or Sweet Water Lake. The lagoon’s backdrop is a stunning landscape of rolling green hills on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. Sit back in the warm waters and look out for monkeys and birds in the surrounding tropical foliage.
Swim in the tranquil Arabian Sea shallows at Kalacha Beach before stretching out on the warm sand beneath tall palm trees. Enjoy the beach’s peaceful atmosphere. Watch a stunning Goa coast sunset before joining locals and other travellers for a chilled-out music session around the fire.
Wander up to the beach huts to find a selection of food vendors and cafés selling authentic local fish curries, featuring the catch of the day and fragrant spices. Browse local handicrafts, jewellery and beachwear at the market stalls near the beach and barter for items. Experience stunning views with a paragliding or hang-gliding tour from the beach’s northern hills. Tours can be booked in nearby Arambol village.
Kalacha Beach is located on Goa’s west coast, just north from Arambol. The beach can only be accessed on foot from Arambol village. Reach the village by bike, taxi, scooter or bus and walk the rest of the way. Kalacha can also be reached on foot from the secluded Querim Beach. Monsoons can affect the area between May and October, so visit outside of these months for warmer, drier weather.
