Karaalioglu Park is a serene and picturesque park with charming water features and exotic plants and trees near the centre of Antalya. It offers fresh air and tranquility after you have seen the museums and ancient monuments in the scorching city. Amble through the colourful park and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the sound of the sea.
Wander through the park to find comfort and shade between the trees. Sunbathe on an open patch of grass and have a picnic with your family. Make your way to the coast to sit on the rocky cliff with a view of the Mediterranean Sea. Find a comfortable vista from which you can enjoy the setting of the sun over the horizon and the Roman bay.
Stroll along the paths and note the array of diverse plants and trees flanking the walkways. See the glorious water feature with several fountains.
A small playground adjoins an outdoor gym near the centre of the park. Take the kids to the play area while you keep up your fitness or socialize in the exercise area. Have lunch at one of the park’s cafés, which have reasonable prices. Relax in the shade with an ice cream in hand. Vendors sell nuts and other snacks.
The charming park has many statues and benches where you can sit and contemplate the collection of monuments. The most striking example is Hidirlik Tower, a Roman structure from almost 2,000 years ago. Gaze up at the trees to spot birds and other wildlife.
There is no entry fee for the park, which remains open at all times. The site’s name translates as “Son of Black Ali.”
Karaalioglu Park is right on the Mediterranean Sea near the centre of the city. At its western point, find the Hidirlik Tower, overlooking the sparkling blue water. Take a bus to one of the stops nearby or drive to the scenic park. You can easily find the area by tram or on foot. The historic centre, which is known as Kaleiçi, is a 10-minute walk from the park.
