A homely lodge with open lake view

Set on the shores of the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake in the Lake District National Park, this small tranquil park, nestled at the foot of the dramatic Skiddaw mountain range, is the perfect relaxing getaway. Enjoy the amazing lake and mountain views, the peaceful surroundings and the extensive birdlife from our homely and cosy lodge.

This spacious lodge offers guests a variety of home comforts, so expect to find comfy beds, modern bathrooms, a cosy fire, a really well-equipped kitchen with a wide range of kitchen equipment and basic larder items, a washer-dryer and dishwasher.

Bird seed is provided so you can enjoy the birdlife; blankets are too, so you can keep warm on a chilly evening while you star gaze from the deck. There are games, DVDS and an X-Box with a variety of games for those rainy evenings in the lodge.

Guests are welcome to bring kayaks, paddle boards and non-motorised boats to explore the clear lake waters or alternatively you can stick to a swim or paddle!

There are endless walks to enjoy in the area, ranging from flatter walks round the lake and through the woods to long days out high up on the fells, many of which are easily accessible from the lodge. There are maps and walking books to help you plan your day out.

There are a great variety of eating and drinking options in the local area, with a lovely old pub in Bassenthwaite serving good food and restaurant bistro at the Manor House, both close to the lodge.

Our stay was wonderful! The lodge was comfortable and well equipped. It had a clear view of the lake and surrounding mountains. It was truly beautiful and we loved it! We swam and paddle boarded in the lake, as well as walked up Catsbells. Keswick is close by with plenty of cafes, restaurants and quirky shops. Wonderful stay.

Great place and location
Really nice accommodation in a very nice location. Well presented and clean lodge with great view of the Lake. Brilliant welcome pack very informative and welcome advice on walks and where to go. Enjoyed the area 15 min drive to Keswick, I found that the turn off from the road to the site is a short distance from the signage and recommend hiiting your indicator as soon as you have passed the sign and start slowing as you often have cars travelling at speed behind you. Overall a great place to stay.

Lovely lodge, very clean & in a fabulous position with views of the Lake. The Lodge had everything you need, with comfortable beds & furniture, a very well stocked kitchen, a beautiful decking area with a variety of bird life visiting the feeders. It was a perfect stay for myself & my dog. Would highly recommend 👌

Top notch property in an even more top notch location
Week away at this superb lodge. Excellent views and fantastic getaway location. Not too far from lovely scenic walks but far enough to feel away from it all Lodge had everything we needed and more. It was just a shame we didn't get chance to make use of the barbecue Bassenthwaite Lake Station a must do, the breakfast on the static train carriage is amazing. Buttermere lake very special place

A good weekend by the lake
The location was brilliant. The property was well equipped, clean and comfortable. However, the external areas were in dire need of cleansing and maintenance. (Getting rid of the bird feeders would help in this matter !!)

Lovely relaxing break with stunning scenery
The site where the lodge is situated is small and was quiet this week. The view of the lake and surroundings is beautiful and it was so relaxing to sit on the benches that are dotted around and take it all in. Even though we hit 2 days of dreadful weather I was happy enough to stay in the lodge and read, watch tv, relax etc. It was easy enough to get to and from Keswick and, had it not been for the awful weather, I’d have explored further.

What a beautiful location for a lodge! The lodge itself was well presented and clean with everything you would need, but by far the best things are the views and the peace. You are only 15mins away from Keswick. We will definitely be back.

Anniversary weekend beside bassenthwaite
Had a great long weekend , lodge was lovely, let ourselves in as requested, never met the property manager but didn't have any cause to call them. It's a very nice place, lovely view over the lake . comfortable lodge , everything you need in there. we had some lovely drives out to see some of the other lakes as well, Windermere, rydal water, ulswater, Buttermere, derwent water , loved it.

Thanks so much, we had a great stay. Lodge was nice and warm and had everything we needed. Really loved the Christmas tree and decorations. View and location was amazing. Quite a different Christmas from our usual hot Australian xmas.

The property has amazing views, we had a power cut the first night we were there tried both contacts couldn't get through, I did get a call back, i was told as it was a power cut there was nothing they could do. Which is understandable but i would of expected maybe a bit of compassion as it wasn't my fault either. The bedrooms could do with a bit of updating, windows were very dirty and the shower dripped all the time

Beautiful well maintained cottage for those looking for solitude
We had a great time at the well appointed cottage overlooking the lake. Both Ali & Chris are excellent hosts and very responsive. would highly recommend the place as we are surely going back again.

Perfect pitch. Great veiw of the lake. The birds were very entertaining. Accommodation excellent and very good value. The only minus was the light switch in the twin bedroom didnt work. I would book again.

Good size lodge with all you need well anticipated Weather was typical out of season rain and breeze in the Lake District but still beautiful countryside to visit and then return to lodge for cosy evening. Our westie Lola loved the walks and a few seeds and peanuts brought a host to birds to the balcony.

Just what we needed! Amazing!
We loved the lodge and our stay. The lodge was homely, clean, welcoming and have a lovely feel about it. The view to the Lake was beautiful and being able to sit out in the evening on the deck was so relaxing. Ali and Chris were attentive and git back to us when needed. We thought we had no heating. But we did! We was looking at the wrong box to turn it on. Its the box on the nesting tables opposite the front door. The oven give up mid grilling bacon, we phoned Ali and Chris and they were so apologetic but didnt need to be, these things happen. They quickly got someone round to look at it and it needed to be replaced and they did this the next day which was brilliant as it was sunday. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need, so we just used the slow cooker and hob and it made difference to our stay. It just made it more of an adventure! The beds are comfy and the shower in the en-suite had better water pressure than mine at home! It was perfect for my two rescue dogs first ever holiday, we have created the most amazing memories ❤️ The lodge was perfect and Ali and Chris could not have done any more! Amazing hosts! We loved our stay ❤️
