"Quiet and relaxing onsen inn, an economic choice as well. A short walk up from a bus stop, with a lovely view of the lake. Great for a relaxing get away."

"The service staff was good, except on the day of checkout when they were very insistent that we checked out before the 10 am checkout time, even though I kept explaining that I had my children and wife still in the room while I returned my rental car. They almost made me late returning my car by having me explain my whole itinerary to them that morning. "

"Restaurant and housekeeping services were exceptional. Hotel is well maintained and the front desk check in process was quick and friendly. Room peaceful and quiet with great views of mountain side and lake. Recommend 4th floor if possible. 403 was a great room and lots of amenities (e.g., cups, tea pot, robes, phone plugs, etc.). "Amazing Ryokan held by a very nice couple. The kaiseki diner and breakfast were especially Amazing !! If you don’t mind using a public bathroom I totally recommend you this Ryokan 👍"

"We had such a wonderful time at MICASA! We stayed in one of the private onsen rooms, and it was a gorgeous mid-trip treat! The food was phenomenal— and so filling! — and we had a lovely time exploring the surrounding area in the snow!"

"Close to bus station. Close to stone steps. Older hotel but staff was very nice. Near steep hill, so I walked about 50 yards to ask staff at driveway if this was the hotel I was looking for. Then he ran up the hill to help us with our bags. I was very pleased."

"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. The free shuttle service to the ski resort was also extremely useful as they would drive you to your desired resort and pick you up at your specified time. Without a car, there is limited access to any surrounding towns. There is a bus but it’s relatively infrequent. However, staying in is also great due to the 24 hour...

"清潔で綺麗なホテルでした。このサイトでは素泊まりプランしかなかったのが残念でした。。。前日にホテルへ相談したところ、+5000円/人で夕食と朝食を後からつけることができ、現地では朝夕ともに個室で美味しくいただきました。温泉も24時間入れるため、滞在中に何度も入りました。他の方のレビューにもあるように、露天風呂の温度は少し低かったですが、温水プールと思えば問題無しでした笑。一応、風呂の上の方に温かいお湯が溜まっているため、手でかき混ぜると全体的に暖かくなります。また今回は貸切風呂も利用してみました（写真アップしときます）。全般的にはかなり良かったと思いますので、また利用させていただきます。"

Found a good new hotel brand WITH an ONSEN!

"Great hotel. I may continue to use them in the future if they are available in my travel destination locales. Basic amenities are always available at the ground floor. Staff was friendly. Onsen was practical, but most importantly, it has an outdoor ONSEN. I only wonder if the women's ONSEN is designed differently, as they don't switch the onsen's on different days. If I did have a single complaint, it would be that they only provide (1) pillow per bed, and that the design of the pillow may not be for everyone. It's the type where the edges of the pillow have a thicker fluff anf firmness, and then towards the center of the pillow, there is a dip/concavity. I struggled to find a comfortable pillow rotation for me. Again, that's my only personal issue with the stay. "

"The Hotel is very historic and designed by our favorite architect Frank Lloyd Wright…you can see clearly his influence.We only stayed one night out from Tokyo by Shinkansen.A short taxi to the temple and shrine in wooded surrounds was great and impressive.We treated ourselves to the fine dining/silver service menu for dinner and I did breakfast on the verandah type room while Julie slept in.Too windy..a gale ..and the Shinkansen’s stopped running so the trip back to Tokyo was twice as long..say 3 hours.Memorable trip to the Kanaya and Nikko itself.Wonderful location."
