"At the time of writing, this hotel has a 9.2 on Expedia. That is truly absurd. This hotel is old (they don’t call it “historic” for nothing) and run down (featuring peeling wallpaper, a saggy matress, threadbare carpet and a kitchen that looks like it was built in the 80s). Making things worse, there is literally not a single thing of interest in Kumara (it only exists because it is a stop on the West Coast Wilderness Trail). "Overall, it is a nice place to stay. Easy and friendly communication with the host Lynley. The only disappointment was that the dvd player was not fully operational, as it had no sound. We had brought a few dvds with us that we hoped to use. Lynley did her best to try and solve this matter, but unfortunately it wasn't able to be fixed before we left. We recommend that this and any other devices be checked first before listing them as being available."
