"I want to start off by saying I had a nice visit, I did the half board option and the food was plentiful and very tasty. Lots of variety, the sushi was not good and their take on Western food isn't great but the Japanese food is awesome. 2 different Onsen areas that alternate gender daily so you can try both. The hotel is old, let's just prepare you for this, really old. It could do with a massive makeover but I doubt it will happen as they are very busy due to the amazing location. If you are...

Urakusatsu Tou
3.5 star property
9.0 out of 10, Wonderful, (152)
"The room was spacious, with high ceilings and large windows. We stayed for one night, and it was comfortable. The dinner was just okay, but the breakfast was delicious. The only downside is that the men's and women's onsen baths didn't switch, unlike other onsen hotels I've stayed at. This hotel has a more Western style It's not a traditional onsen ryokan. But overall was a great experience! "

Kusatsu Onsen Yugomorinosato Ryokufutei
2.5 star property
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (71)
"The room was quite large, spotless and with large windows overlooking the lovely surrounding forest and laid out in beautiful traditional Japanese style ... everything was wonderfully prepared. Rocky at the reception and Andes, his assistant from Nepal, were very kind and open and welcoming. The location is excellent as it is only 10 to 15 minutes of gentle walking to anywhere in town ... from the three famous Onsen (Oktakinoyu (with a nice restaurant and indoor/outdoor Onsen), Sainokawara (the...

"We stayed at this lovely traditional hotel for three nights. Even though the staff doesn’t speak much English, they make it up with wonderful hospitality. I told the staff to let my husband in at midnight because he’s on the last train, the front desk clerk told me there’s no more taxi service and offered to pick him up. That was almost midnight. When we checked out they also gave me a small gift bag for my birthday ❤️ Every day we can choose different traditional outfits for the hot springs....
