La Baguette was the 18th century boulangerie for the farm and still has the original clay and stone oven. However, this is now the perfect place to relax and unwind in the heart of the Normandy countryside. Situated just four miles from the vibrant town of Villedieu-les-Poeles, one mile from the nearest bar / shop for your morning croissants and twenty minutes from the beach at Brehal, it is a perfect place to enjoy the peaceful surroundings yet to be close to bars, restaurants, historic places to visit, and of course, the Normandy landing beaches. Bayeux and Mont St Michel are within an hours drive and Granville, known as the Monaco of the north as well as the birthplace of Christian Dior, is less than thirty minutes drive.
La Baguette has its own private garden securely fenced for any well behaved four legged friends.Here we hope you will enjoy dining al fresco, watching the beautiful sunsets or reclining in the sun. Bikes are provided for the more energetic (please bring your own helmets) and there are walks from the property that can take you to the fishing lake. Cows outnumber neighbours and the occasional passing tractors will outnumber cars!
The property has been newly renovated to a high standard. Oak furniture, leather sofa and footstool and Laura Ashley soft furnishings throughout. The bedroom is vaulted and beamed and the king size bed has a very comfortable mattress. A hair drier is provided. The lounge area has a comfortable seating arrangement and satellite TV is available as well as free wireless broadband and an iPod dock. There is also French satellite TV available. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who like to cook whilst away!
The nearest supermarket is at Gavray and it has a petrol station and car wash. A post office can be found both in Gavray and Villedieu.
We will supply a cot and highchair upon request, but please bring your own cot bedding. The property has heating in every room for those who would like to visit in the cooler months and is festively decorated for those that visit over Christmas and New Year.

Fantastic break

If your looking for a perfect place where you can unwind and enjoy Normandy look no further. La Baguette is everything you would want, so well equipped for all you needs. A beautiful, quite and relaxing holiday home.

My wife and I were after a quiet break in the Manche countryside. La Baguette ticked every box for us. Perfect in every way. A lovely building, well kept and very quiet. Pete and Carol are lovely hosts and great to chat to, we met old Skip too, their lovely old dog. We took our tandem and had a secure place to leave it. We can highly recommend cycling in the area, it's virtually traffic free. All in all, the perfect place for a quiet getaway for couples.

Normandy Break

The property is in a rural location, quiet county lanes that are very good for walks & using the bikes which are provided ,fun. We don’t have dogs & whilst the house is dog-friendly, it doesn’t smell of dog at all and it’s very clean. Carol & Pete are very kind & helpful hosts, easily contactable & good communication. Directions to property were very easy to follow. A suggestion would be to shop at a large supermarket en route before arriving at the property.

Just lovely!

We had a fabulous two week stay at La Baguette. The gite is ideal for two, clean, cosy and renovated to an extremely high standard. We felt quite at home and would have love to have stayed longer. Carol and Pete were great hosts - we didnt want for anything, but knew that we could ask had the need arisen. The area is glorious - so much to see and do that it was difficult to stay 'at home', but when we did the garden was a joy. BBQ, amazing food and beautiful sunsets. The location too, was great for an evening stroll or cycle. We will definitely be back to this wonderful area of France and would have no hesitation in returning to La Baguette also. Après un premier séjour au mois de juin, nous sommes revenus à la Baguette ce mois de septembre et nous y reviendrons. Pas possible de trouver du négatif en plus avec des hôtes comme Carol et Pete.

un séjour dans un havre de paix

Au cœur de la campagne normande, une très jolie maisonnette et très bien équipée. C'est l'endroit idéal pour les promenades pédestres et en vélo, à quelques kilomètres de Granville, Avranches... Le Musée Christian Dior vaut le détour. Nous reviendrons!

Wundervoll

Wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das kleine Häuschen ist sehr liebevoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nett und unkompliziert. Es gibt in der Umgebung viel zu entdecken und Sehenswürdigkeiten sind gut zu erreichen. Wir und auch unserer kleiner Hund haben sich dort sehr wohlgefühlt.

Vacances en plein nature avec grand confort

J ai passé de douces vacances dans cet adorable gîte très confortable et magnifiquement entretenu. J ai rarement ét été dans un gîte aussi propre. On s y sens très vite à son aise comme chez soi. Le soir nous avions droit à de magnifiques coucher de soleil… Carol est Peter sont d une infinie gentillesse et je les remercie encore pour leur accueil chaleureux et service rendu… tout était parfait !! Der perfekte Ort!

Nach langen anstrengenden Wochen/Monaten haben wir einen Platz vorgefunden, wo wir genau das bekommen haben, was wir gesucht und gebraucht haben! Eine wunderschöne Landschaft (wie immer in der Normandie), ein schnuckeliges Häuschen mit allem, was man braucht, ein wunderbarer Garten (eingezäunt und ausbruchsicher für unseren Yoshi), ganz viel Ruhe und Stille und natürlich zwei wunderbare Gastgeber!! Immer ansprechbar und hilfreich aber gleichzeitig auch so diskret und so wunderbar britisch, ganz tolle Menschen. Die Umgebung bietet natürlich extrem viele Möglichkeiten für Sightseeing, aber unser Highlight war wirklich dieses kleine Refugium, das uns so viel Entspannung und Ruhe gegeben hat! Wir kommen wieder!

Urlaub im La Baguette

Ein perfekter Ort für Leute, die Ruhe mögen, aber dennoch gerne Dinge unternehmen. Das Haus selbst ist herrlich ruhig gelegen und die Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereite Leute. Die Landschaft ist ländlich und wunderschön grün und üppig. Es ist als Ausgangspunkt toll gelegen, wenn man die Halbinsel erkunden möchte, da die Wege (mit dem Auto) nie allzu lang sind (bis zum nördlichaten Zipfel Fahrt man ca. eine gute Stunde).
