Perfect Spot for Our Visit to Northern Spain!
Ana’s apartment was clean and cozy, with plenty of room for three adults and two children. Having the washing machine and drying racks was a huge plus for us. The building is in a great location, near lots of cafeterías, restaurants, and shops, it’s easy walking distance from the old part of the city, and there’s a grocery store with very friendly and helpful employees just around the corner. The neighbors in the building were also quite friendly and very patient with our faltering Spanish. There can be a little street noise, especially on the weekends, but we had no trouble sleeping because the window coverings insulated us from almost all of it, and the noise never continued very late into the evening.
Ana was very responsive when we had questions. For example, I found the Spanish recycling system quite confusing, and I couldn’t figure out how to take out the trash. I messaged Ana, and she responded very quickly and helped me understand what to do. (Incidentally, once I learned about the recycling system, I was very impressed. They recycle so much more in Spain than I can in the U.S., and it’s so easy once you crack the code.)
And I second other reviewers’ recommendations to visit the Picos de Europa national park. It wasn’t a very long drive to get there from León, and the hiking was so incredible it was completely worth it.
León was an ideal jumping-off point for all of our adventures northern Spain, and Ana’s place was a great place to stay. I would definitely love to stay at Ana’s place again if I get back to León.
