Please note: There are sloping banks, streams and ponds in the grounds.. Beautifully located amidst unspoilt countryside with lovely valley views, and just a couple of miles inland from Cardigan Bay, the three cottages at Penrallt Y Cordde offer the perfect location to enjoy the Marine Heritage coastline. There are several award-winning beaches nearby, remote sandy coves and small fishing villages nestling amidst the stunning scenery. Tresaith, Penbryn, Cei Bach, Llangrannog and Mwnt are just a few worthy of a visit and several beaches are dog friendly all year round.
The three cottages sit within the resident owners’ 15 acres of land, where they have their own farmhouse and pastures, meadows, woodlands, ponds and stream. Each holiday cottage is different but all are equally comfortable and with unique features. The Grade II listed detached cottage, Bwthyn Barri (ref OW9) is believed to have been built in 1711 and is full of character with beams and exposed stonework, and has an inglenook fireplace with wood-burning stove.
Y Cartws (ref OW8 and meaning ‘cart’), and Yr Ysgubor (ref OX1 and meaning ‘barn’), have been created from an old stone barn and now offer contemporary accommodation in a sympathetic conversion, also with beams, vaulted ceilings and exposed stonework.
The Ceredigion Coastal Path takes in spectacular cliff top views and ‘Cardi Bach’ buses connect with various points along the route. Designated a Special Area of Conservation, Cardigan Bay is home to bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises, grey seals and a variety of sea birds. You can take a dolphin spotting boat trip from New Quay harbour, or just enjoy fish and chips and watch them from the harbour wall. It’s no wonder that writer Dylan Thomas was inspired to settle here for some of his life.
There are plenty of attractive towns and villages to discover nearby, including Cardigan and its castle, the colourful harbour town of Aberaeron with elegant painted Georgian buildings, impressive Cilgerran, and bustling Newcastle Emlyn. Cosy pubs, chic shops, antique centres and good restaurants in the area, and for the more sporty, there are plenty of outdoor activities available including cycle routes, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and a canoe centre at Llandysul.
Just a few miles further inland the scenic Teifi Valley offers excellent opportunities for fishing as well as attractions such as the Teifi Valley Railway, the National Wool Museum, the National Coracle Centre and falls at Cenarth.
Whether you are looking for activity filled days or quiet relaxation and contemplation, Ceredigion has it all and Penrallt Y Cordde offer the perfect base from which to enjoy your holiday or short break. Shop 3/4 mile, pub and restaurant 2¼ miles.
Free WiFi

Lovely cottage, easily accessible and a short distance from the main road.

Lovely cottage, easily accessible and a short distance from the main road. Owner was helpful and friendly. We found the location perfect as a short drive from many of the local villages and towns, this made it easy to explore. The cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. A great paddock behind the barn for walking the dog and a wet walk too. We will visit again and would highly recommend. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

The cottage is one of three in an isolated setting in the countryside but only about 3 miles from the dog-friendly Aberporth beach. If you do have dogs, the accommodation is perfect for them as there is a large enclosed field a few paces from the cottage. The cottage itself is comfortable and cosy. My wife didn't find the leather lounge suite very comfortable but then she has a degenerative spinal condition. I brought an easy chair down from the bedroom, which sorted the problem quite nicely. The owners are lovely people and very accommodating. We were very lucky as our September holiday was sunny, warm and dry. Definitely recommended. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Had a fabulous week in the cottage. Jon and Debbie were contactable if needed but were not in any way intrusive. Lovely cottage and only thing I had problems with were the pillows - a minor detail. Would certainly recommend and would love to return

We really enjoyed our weeks holiday at Y Cartws. It is very peaceful here. The owners Debbie and Jon were brilliant as they were very quick to help us when needed. A fantastic property with very helpful owners.

A fantastic property with very helpful owners. The pictures make the house look good, but for us it was better than the pictures. Lovely quiet location to enjoy as a base to explore. 15-20 minutes to Cardigan for a bigger supermarket. Lots of things around to do with our two year old who enjoyed the toddler bed provided. The shower is really good (think it is waterfall style). Plenty of space for two and a little one. Would definitely recommend this property for a stay in this area.

We had a lovely time at the cottage in the first week of April.

We had a lovely time at the cottage in the first week of April. The cottage has everything that you need and the underfloor heating was delightful! The surrounding area and beaches are stunning and we felt thoroughly relaxed. The hosts are also lovely people and provide a delicious welcome pack. We accidentally left something at the cottage when we left and they boxed it up and posted it back to us which was great. We will be back as there’s so much more to explore.

Peaceful and relaxing.

Peaceful and relaxing. The cottage is beautifully presented and comfortable. The low ceiling in the living room was unexpected but my 6ft 8 husband coped well! Otherwise we had a fabulous week with our two labradors.
