The Lake House - One of Ludlow's Most Picturesque Rentals

This comfortable and convenient, 3 bedroom, 3 bath lakefront home with fully-appointed kitchen & full laundry is perfectly situated to enjoy a relaxing Vermont vacation. The home sleeps 10 people and is only 2 miles to the area's best skiing!

Right out of the back door, you'll find one of Vermont's most pristine lakes. (No motor boats permitted.) The fresh, mountain air and stunning Vermont views will greet you at every turn. The boat dock and included kayaks and canoe (with life vests) make for great fun, great fishing and great relaxation a full three seasons out of the year. Paddle to the nearby overflow "waterfall", swim, or fish from the dock or one of the boats ... great for kids and adults of all ages. Whether you're looking for the best hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking ... or just enjoying the view with a fresh, hot cup of coffee on the deck, you'll find this location and this home the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

THE MOST RELAXING VACATION I EVER HAD
“If you're looking for the most perfect vacation house for a relaxing week I highly recommend this one."

PEACEFUL & COMFORTABLE
“The house is spacious, there are beautiful views
of the lake from the living room and master bedroom.“

.
The location is ideal for summer or winter. (Okemo 2 miles away Buttermilk Falls, golf etc 3 miles)
The quintessentially Vermont town of Ludlow (about 4 miles) offers great local shops, a fully-stocked supermarket, drugstore, hardware store, bike shop, wine shops and fantastic restaurants.

The beautiful and historic town of Woodstock is a short 25 mile drive, and you can stop at the brewery and get a sampler of the different word famous Long Trail ales and maybe enjoy lunch or dinner there right next to at a murmuring brook. . The renowned Weston Playhouse Theater is even closer at just 10 miles. Weston is worth a visit by itself.

Winter - It's virtually impossible to beat this home and this location for great winter activity and relaxation. From the winter wonderland that the lake and surrounding area becomes, to some of the most amazing skiing in all of Vermont, you'll find it all close by. Okemo's newest lodge, Jackson Gore, is just 2 miles away and connects with other Okemo lodges via a network of 121 trails & glades, 667 acres of terrain and a vertical drop of 2,200 feet ... the most in southern Vermont. Okemo is reliable to always have fantastic grooming and is known for “the best in family fun”. If you are an extreme skier and need a challenge go to nearby Killington.

• Viking Nordic Center
• Magic Mountain Ski Area
• Killington

• Sugarbush / Mad River Glenn about 1 h (See a spectacular frozen waterfall on the way.)

Spring & Summer - Activities abound! From the plentiful parks, the nearby state forest, the Appalachian trail or the Long Trail, this home is close to them all. Plan a bike trip along one of the rivers or the chain of lakes on which this home sits, play tennis on the nearby public court or play golf just 3 miles away! Jump in the water at the famous Buttermilk Falls just 3 miles away.
Many of the local mountains offer scenic rides, exciting activities for children and teenagers, and mountain biking.

“We spent the majority of our time swimming, fishing, kayaking, and just hanging out in the backyard.”
Review by Aimee D.

“We really enjoyed staying at this very comfortable cottage. It was a very convenient base to go mountain biking, hiking, and of course canoeing was right out the back door.”

Autumn - Sited in one of the lushest areas in Southern Vermont, the fall colors here are nothing short of breath-taking. From sunny, warm days - perfect for hiking and biking and relaxing - to the cool, crisp nights tailor-made for a glass of wine or s'mores around the fire (weather permitting), this is the place to take it all in.

Family get away
The house was very comfortable for 6 adults and 4 children. The Ludlow area was a lot of fun. My grandchildren enjoyed the lake swimming and boating. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had. Also would be a great area for winter activities with Okemo being so close. If we ever get back to skiing we would definitely rent again.

Pond Review
Ursula's cabin is very clean and all the amenities are exactly as described. Drinkable well water!! She was very thorough with instructions in the guest book which was much appreciated. We enjoyed (too much!) the peanut brittle from the Sugar Shack and eating at The Loft on the road up to Okemo. Sadly, two aspects of the property were disappointing for us. The pictures online do not accurately show the shallow depth of this corner of the pond or the amount of weeds, mud and algae blooms. In order to swim you have to paddle about 100 yards to the center of the pond. You then have to be fit enough to get yourself off of and back onto a kayak -- she has a two-person plastic 'sit-atop' one that you can use for this purpose. I was able to manage it, but not gracefully! I would recommend paddle boards for guests in addition to kayaks. Most other properties on the pond have access to the water via small sandy beaches or docks. I would add that the water was so murky that I wasn't comfortable with my dog swimming off the shore either. The second aspect which cannot be helped is how close the cabin is to the very busy Route 100 (40mph). Ursula's yard is surprisingly insulated from sound and private from nearby neighbors with a fence, but walking on Rt 100 with a dog or children would be risky in my opinion. There are many wonderful qualities about Ursula's cabin, but I feel that transparency is important -- serious swimmers and walkers may want to reconsider this rental.

Peaceful time
It was very easy to get in and out of the home. Its very big inside, withs lots of places to sleep. The kitchen was easy to work in. Enjoyed playing some games that were left there. Our 2nd week was tuff because of the flooding in Central Vt ,we were not able to get to our family. Bridges were washed out. Hardly any rain here. Many thanks to the owner for answering my questions. Very easy person to talk to.

Cute house with amazing lake view
Really enjoyed our stay! The view of the lake from the living room was so peaceful and pretty. The flowers were just starting to bloom, which added a nice splash of color to the view. The house is fully equipped with everything you need both inside and out. There were kayaks available (as well as a canoe) and we were out on the lake a couple times. The lake is long enough to really experience a very scenic paddle. There is also a little country store down a ways a bit where you can stop and get some maple ice scream and other snacks and sit out by the water to enjoy. Definitely would like to come back again!

Great House, Great Location!
This house was a perfect find for our trip to Okemo. Just a couple minute drive into the town of Ludlow and to Okemo bases. It was nice to be able to come back to the house after being at Okemo all day, shower, and drive right back to town to eat dinner and stop in the ski shops. Also, stop at the Green Mountain Sugar House for maple creamies, which is less than a minute away. The home is cozy and clean, stocked with everything you need, but might sometimes forget to bring with you. The views of the lake are beautiful, even from just sitting on the couch in the living room looking out the wall of windows. We watched a bald eagle grab its breakfast from the lake and it sat on a tree branch to eat right in front of the house. We want to come back and experience this house in the summer to paddle board on the lake. The host is great, so nice and great communication. Thank you!

We had a great time staying here for a guy weekend skit trip. The place was perfect for a few dudes and the location to Okemo was perfect. It was also close enough to ski Killington as one of our friends did that one of the days, but It was 5 minute drive to Jackson Gore Parking and 5 minute drive into the town of Ludlow. Would love to come back.

Our second time here ..
We absolutely love staying here. It’s cozy and close to Jackson Gore / Okemo. We love that we can bring our dogs and be so close to skiing. Being able to do laundry or dry gloves from the kids is the best! We always have so much fun sitting around the table looking out at the water and playing games. This year it was poker with the littles. As always we visited the sugar shack for maple creamies after a long day of boarding / skiing! Will be back again!

Great Spot for Ski Trip
We enjoyed our stay, the rooms were big and furnishings very comfortable. It's not updated, but is clean and nice and feels like the Lake House it is. Was very convenient to Okemo and Killington. The posting on the property indicated it had a hot tub but it does not. Not a deal breaker for us at all. Would stay there again! If you're there in the winter, definitely need a 4wheel or allwheel drive vehicle to navigate the road in. When we arrived, the cleaning service was stuck trying to get out and we were able to help them do so before we could get down the driveway. Owner also was very responsive and checkin/out was super easy.

Nice stay, comfortable location
This was our 3rd stay at this location. While the weather wasn’t ideal for skiing the week we were there, the house was cozy. We enjoyed our stay, the house was clean, and the views were really nice even with all the rain. The house seemed to have been spared most of the flooding that plagued the area except for in the basement - which isn’t a sleeping area anyway. Ursula is a wonderful host and excellent communicator. Very pleased and hope to visit again soon.

We dreamed of a White Christmas, but alas, there was very little snow. Despite that, we enjoyed staying in this VRBO. Everything was supplied, the cabin was very comfortable and the location was very good. We hadn't planned on going skiing anyway, so we were able to take a couple of hikes in the beautiful area.

A lovely stay
This cozy house was the perfect place for our ski trip to Okemo. Just a few minutes down the road from the main entrance and town and around the corner from the Sugar House where you can get the most delicious maple cream soft serve. Pretty view of the lake. The house was clean and the owner put in lots of thoughtful touches. Plenty of space for two families of seven people total. We appreciated the fireplace and whirlpool tub after a day on the slopes.
