"We only stayed one night, but the Strater will always be remembered. What a fantastic piece of working history. Every inch of this hotel is impressive. The staff are lovely and seem to love the hotel and their jobs. I was amazed at the quantity of staff who take care of this gem. We will be back. We had recently stayed at the El Tovar, which was terrific, but we put the Strater beside it. I think the Strater is better maintained with nicer amenities. "

"Our stay was for a special occasion and to check off a bucket list to climb the Incline. The Cliff House was so historically excellent and different for us. The only thing we think would improve this is if the hotel host could provide information about the incline and how to get reservations as we didn't now reservations were required. "

We enjoy staying in historic hotels and ignore the few inconveniences and quirks that you will encounter. "3 night stay for a conference at nearby Salt Palace CC. I chose Peery for its history and unique character over a cookie cutter corporate tower (still, it’s a Hilton property). The bedroom itself was great - 3 bright windows on a corner facing 300S - minimal noise from street/sidewalk. Comfortable bed, desk for work, space to move around. The bathroom, however, was the smallest I’ve seen in all my years of staying in historic hotels —- sorta comical to step over the toilet to reach the shower!...
