With green-blue water, views of a national park and unspoiled surroundings, Noosa Beach feels more like a Pacific Island than part of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Lay out a towel on the beach, try your hand at surfing or spot koalas at Noosa National Park.
Spend a few hours swimming and tanning on the beach’s bright white sand. Enjoy how peaceful and secluded the beach feels. Development in the area is limited to low-rise buildings, so you can easily forget that you are near civilisation. Located on the south end of Laguna Bay, the beach faces north, so its surf is calm throughout the year. Lifeguards are on duty every day of the year, so the beach is an especially safe destination for families.

While the waters to the east of Noosa National Park are considered to have some of Australia’s best surfing waves, the surf off Noosa Beach is much calmer. Noosa’s downtown area is located just one block from Noosa Beach. Spread out along Hastings Street, Noosa’s main strip features restaurants and cafés with large outdoor terraces, plus plenty of small specialty stores that are perfect for souvenir shopping. Dine in at one of the al fresco restaurants and enjoy a gourmet meal made from fresh local ingredients. For a more casual environment, walk along the beach promenade while snacking on some fish and chips.
Since Hastings Street is Noosa’s town centre, foot traffic can be heavy, which makes driving difficult. Park for free in the parking lot next to Noosa Beach, then navigate the town on foot.
Arrive in Noosa by bus or car from Brisbane, which is located about 160 kilometres (99.5 miles) to the south.
