"We’ve just spent two wonderful nights, here, and everything has been perfect. The hotel is miles from anywhere so you either need a car or use the hotel shuttle bus to ferry you to and from the nearest station. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The highlight was the traditional Japanese meals served in a private dining area. Every course (they kept on coming) is a wonderful new ‘taste surprise’. "The staff is very friendly. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, and liquid soap. There is a small refrigerator available; make sure to turn on the dedicated switch to power up the refrigerator. A yutaka is available for use. The hotel has a nice bathhouse! There are washing machines & dryers available on site. The breakfast is amazing- a large selection to choose from. "It was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep on. There was no padding on the springs. I could feel the springs. No official wifi in the hotel, but manager allowed me to access the office wifi. I would not recommend this hotel. There must be better hotels for the price."

"Nagataki was better than a hotel stay. We stayed for one night before walking the Nakasendo. We had our own little Japanese cottage set in a lovely garden. Meals were served in our cottage and were simply amazing. The food presentation was a work of art and absolutely delicious and inventive. The onsen was beautiful and had a gorgeous view out to the garden. The staff were so lovely even though not a great deal of English was spoken. We were picked up and dropped off at Nakatsagawa station....
