Blackhill Farm Cottage is located 10 miles north of Perth in a peaceful rural setting surrounded by fields and woodland on the southern edge of the stunning Highlands. It is on a farm nearly 2 miles from the nearest public roads which gives a wonderful feeling of privacy and seclusion. It features on open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room which makes it ideal for families and groups of friends. The cottage has its own garden and has fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
The cottage makes the ideal base for keen walkers and cyclists. There are various tracks through the fields and woods and we have several mountain bikes of varying sizes to loan to guests.
The cottage sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedrooms, (one twin downstairs and two kingsize doubles upstairs), and has one main bathroom with shower over a, (deep), bath, wc, towel rail and underfloor heating. There is an additional WC upstairs. All linen and towels are provided and everything is included in the rent.
The kitchen is very well appointed with 4 ring hob, double oven/grill, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, full utensils, cutlery & crockery and washer/drier.
For those who would like to properly put their feet up we can pre-order meals from the excellent COOK and also from award winning local chef Praveen Kumar who runs the highly successful Tabla restaurant and Indian cookery school in Perth. We can also provide some beverages by arrangement prior to your arrival. Internet grocery deliveries can also be arranged with Waitrose and Tesco.
The sitting area has two 3 seater sofas, flatscreen TV, digi box, DVD player and a cosy log burning stove and we will provide a basket of logs in the winter months. The cottage is also heated throughout.
The cottage also has a bbq and outdoor table to enjoy those lovely summer evenings. We have a selection of adult and children’s bicycles that can be borrowed by guests during their stay and beside the fishing pond there is a bbq hut that can be made available for guest use by prior arrangement. Parking is available for 4 cars and an EV charger is available by request.
As well as the surrounding fields and woods the surrounding area has lots to offer all ages with lots of indoor and outdoor activities. The City of Perth is only 15 minutes away with lots of shopping and leisure activities. Perth also offers a cinema, theatre, (Horsecross Arts), which has a full programme of shows for all ages through the year, leisure pool with water slides as well as a good selection of bars and restaurants.
Within 15 minutes there is an M&S Simply Food and Aldi, BP Petrol Station, Tesco and Asda supermarkets. We are also only 10 minutes from the A9 which gives easy access to both Highland Perthshire and Edinburgh & Glasgow are also within easy reach. The nearest railway station is also less than 20 minutes away.
Close by there is a footpath running through the farm, there are lots of birds and animals to be seen from the cottage and around the farm. We can offer trout fishing for beginners and experts alike on the farm by separate arrangement and the mighty River Tay is only 15 minutes away for those looking for the chance to catch a Salmon. Being very keen fishers we can advise or assist with bookings.
Bankfoot is the nearest village with a nice pub and co-op convenience store. Active Kids Adventure Park on the edge of Stanley is a must for younger visitors and is only 15 minutes away.
The historic highland towns of Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy are all in close proximity as is Perth which offers most shopping and Scone Palace, the historic crowning place of Scottish Kings is well worth a visit.
Dundee is only 45 minutes away with attractions including the RS Discovery which took Captain Scott to Antartica, The recently opened V&A museum next door, Camperdown Zoo, Dundee Science Centre and Foxlake Dundee Aqua Park, (aquatic inflatable assault course in the harbour!).
Historic St. Andrews with its lovely sandy beaches is also just under an hour away.
There are nearby whisky distilleries at Glenturret, (30 minutes), Tullibardine, (30 minutes), Edradour, (40 minutes). Dewars Aberfeldy, (45 minutes), Dalwhinnie, (60 mins).
Lochs Tummel, Tay and Earn are all nearby and offer various water based activities as well as breathtaking scenery. Several local operators run rafting, kayaking, paddle boarding, canyoning, walking and climbing adventures for all ages and skill levels. There are also wildlife safaris available for those keen to track down the iconic Red Deer, Golden Eagles and other indiginous Scottish Flora and Fauna.
Glenshee is the nearest skiing centre, approximately 1hr 15 minutes away, and Aviemore is about 1hr 30 minutes to the north with lots of activities including the Highland Wildlife Park and Cairngorm Mountain.
Stirling with its historic castle is only 45 minutes away and the centres of Edinburgh and Glasgow can be reached in just over an hour.
