"We were driving from the UK to the south west of France and wanted somewhere to stay en route. What a wonderful surprise this place was. The house is a big, beautiful, old (really old!) property with very generous rooms and lovely ensuite bathrooms. The hosts are very welcoming and generous. Saintes - who knows why that big town is not more widely known as a tourist destination. Incredible architecture, lovely river walks, greta places to eat. And the best bit - we have 2 large excitable dogs...

"Très agréable Les propriétaires sont accueillants, très cultivés, ont de la conversation intéressante. Calme absolu dans la chambre, soleil le matin Maison ancienne rénovée avec goût et préservant l'architecture et les éléments anciens, notamment escaliers de bois, planchers en bois, probablement du 17ème siècle."

"Hard to find the first time, but ideally located overall. Towns and champagne tour route nearby. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and quiet. We did not self-cater but with a boulangerie a short walk it would have been easy. We were only in for a short stay (attending a wedding) but would definitely stay again if we were to revisit the region."

"De passage à Saintes, nous avons passé une nuit sur place. Très calme pour bien dormir. Très bon accueil à l’arrivée. Le petit déjeuner dans le jardin le matin c’est au top, notre hôte a été aux petits soins, c’était très agréable. Nous n’hésiterons pas à reprendre une nuit à l’occasion."

Special thanks to Paul who couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect, even set up a big screen projector so we could enjoy the rugby. "Four nights here - and loved it. It is beautifully quiet, the room was lovely and the pool beautiful with a great view. Christine (the owner) could not have been more helpful, she was genuinely concerned about making sure everything was OK and you were having a good time - which I was! Had dinner there on 2 nights, really nice with wonderful view. Thank you Christine - love your place - I hope I will be back next year!"

"Superb location for dog walks, good restsurants in the area, some within a good walking distance. We made good use of the enclosed pool and the ping pong table. Good enclosed garden for the fog. Fully equipped house.Would definately stsy again if we were in this area"

"Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans cette spacieuse et confortable maison située à 35 minutes de Royan. Nous a avons particulièrement profité de al terrasse et du barbecue ! Propriétaires très disponible et à l écoute ! Encore merci !"

Nice new building.

"Very comfortable, clean and welcoming. Ideal for overnight stay, staff very polite and helpful. New building 2023 modern decor excellent bathroom with large shower head. Window in bedroom was large but no way to keep it open just a little for fresh air. Would stay again and recommend it to others."

"The hotel was beautiful and the staff beyond helpful.. Location was perfect in a beautiful street close to the main square and walking distance to everything. But you must be aware that its a small city ad taxi service is limited... i had to walk to the hotel from the train station and also on my way back.. all the taxis.were fully booked.. 1.4 km not bad but.with a suitcase is not fun... this not the hotel's fault... but you must be aware (the same is i guess for all hotels) "
