"I have stayed in 20+ hotels in Iceland. This guesthouse is a shining beacon above every place I have stayed in Iceland, Scotland, England and Germany. I liked this guesthouse so much, that I changed my business plans so I could stay an extra night. I couldn’t bring myself to stay in another generic hotel further North in the city. I visited on a family trip and the hotel staff were responsive and helped to book all our excursions through the hotel in Iceland. We also had last minute changes to our excursions and the staff helped my family make changes to our itinerary very last minute."

"We have a lovely one night stay at Skalakot. It’s very charming, simple hotel in beautiful surroundings. The bed was comfy and the shower was good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The spa was small but nice, gets quite cramped if there are more than 4 people in there. I think it would benefit from an outdoor hot tub. Dinner was nice, breakfast was ok. "

"Beautiful cozy cottages, modern amenities, close driving distance to waterfalls. Isolated, low light pollution great for stargazing and northern lights. The loft cottages have upper loft floor with sky window, very cool. For a couple with or without small child is enough space. Communication with access instructions was easy. People have complained about inflexible cancellation policy, but these are family-run cottages, not a big hotel, so they depend on the income and last minute cancellations...

"This was an amazing hotel. It is perfect for persons going on excursion/trip. The rooms are simple but the beds are comfortable. They have a hot tub outside, which was more than welcome. The staff is very nice and accomodating."

"Stuning View every morning"

"This hotel is really far from normal tourists spots but we wanted to hike a mountain near by so I selected this location. I really enjoyed our time here and the view was pristine and untouched land. The rooms have big windows so you have a great view. "
