Perfect fit
Hakuna Matata was the perfect fit for my family of 5! Great location for exploring the southern hills and enough room for everyone to relax in the evenings. It was so nice to sit in the hot tub after sending the kids to bed - vacation with kids with some perks for Mom and Dad too!

Perfect Gem in the Heart of the Black Hills
This home away from home was the perfect spot to catch up on some R&R after a long day exploring the Black Hills and Custer State Park. It is was very centrally located to be able to see everything we wanted to in the short time we were there. We would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect place to stay!

This VRBO was great! Stayed here with my family (including young 3 kiddos). Place was clean, in the perfect Black Hills location (quick drive to all the outdoor activities), and had all the kitchen supplies we needed to cook meals in. Property manager was very helpful/responsive to our questions. Check in and check out was smooth.

Great place!
We had a great time, house was perfect for our family. We loved the space, and ability to make our own meals. The hot tub was a highlight for our kids. Location was ideal, seemed to be close to everything we wanted to do. My 8 year old loved the prairie dogs and watching the horses!

This property was great. Clean and well appointed. Location was perfect for my husband who spent a lot of time fishing at Pactola Lake and close to Custer State Park, Hill City and the town of Custer. Access to garage was helpful because it rained while we were there. Welcome text from Blanche (host) was much appreciated. Would definitely stay here again.

Simply Perfect!

Summer Trip!
Hakuna Matata Cabin was perfect for our family trip! We had 3 kids and 5 adults and the space worked great. Everything was clean and the location was very convenient. We brought our dog too and there was a nice road to walk her every day. Hot tub was an added bonus! Thanks for making our first trip to South Dakota one to remember!

Great House!
This is a great vacation rental. It's very centralized to all the attractions. The house has everything you need: beach towels (for the hottub), crockpot, and extension cords. If they don't have what you need, Blanche was more than willing to find it for you. We saw deer every morning and evening. All 7 of us loved this house.

Perfect location!
Located in the perfect location. It’s close to everything. They are extremely nice and if we needed anything they responded quickly. Highly recommend this. We have Verizon and it worked fine. Tv worked fine too.

Beautiful getaway!!
This cabin has it all, plus a hot tub! We had a wonderful quick trip to the hills. Close to everything you need, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, Keystone, Deadwood and of course Hill City and Rapid City. The cabin itself was perfect for our family. It has all you need for cooking and beautiful spacious rooms for everyone. Really enjoyed the big screens in all rooms for the end of the day relaxing as well as the hot tub. With two bathrooms as well for getting ready for our days. Would definitely stay again!! Great for a family or to bring your friends! Thank you for our relaxing stay!!

Spring break in the blizzard
Wonderful location. Close to everything. Great customer service. We had a few hiccups but I’m sure the blizzard / weather had something to do with most of it. We had phone service. We use Verizon. There were no issues there. Also there was tv service. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed our stay! Great location!
We enjoyed our stay at the Hakuna Matata house. It's centrally located and easy to get to all the various towns and sites in the Black Hills. The kitchen is well stocked with the supplies needed to cook a meal at home if desired. We enjoyed the peaceful view while sipping our morning coffee. The hosts touched base to make sure we got checked in ok and to ensure we had everything we needed. Much appreciated! As mentioned in other reviews, the wifi connection is slow, especially when it's foggy and rainy or others are connected. Something to be aware of when booking your stay. We'd definitely stay here again!!

I would stay here again
It was really nice to have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The shower in the master was amazing and both bathrooms had 2 sinks which is really nice when sharing a bathroom. The host did a great job and was easy to contact with any questions or issues. When we discovered 2 of the TVs didn’t work, she came over and called Dish and reset them while we were out enjoying our day. It was very easy access to Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park, which if you go, stop at the Visitor Center for helpful advice and take the Wildlife Loop to see lots of Buffalo and we saw lots of babies as well in April. Also take Needles Highway for beautiful views but be aware the tunnels on the highway or only 8 foot wide and 9 feet high.

Excellent host and excellent stay!
First, let me start by saying communication with the host was excellent and their desire for our stay to be both memorable and of the highest quality began prior to our arrival. The location was exactly as described, well-appointed, and even decorated for the holidays. The property was very clean despite being pet-friendly; even though we had people with different allergies - no one was triggered! Thank you! Everything we could need was already there and they offered to get us anything missing after we communicated that we would be cooking for the holidays. While we did not take them up on that offer, it was a sign of their commitment that continued throughout our stay. The hot tub was amazing and the property was exactly what we needed for our family get-together. We truly enjoyed our stay, appreciate your commitment to the visitor's experience, and would definitely book this property again. Thank you!

Veterans day getaway
We were traveling to Rapid City to watch our daughter perform in a music competition. We had a great time at Hakuna Matata and look forward to staying again. The cabin was clean and comfortable and we had plenty of room to hang out. It was also close to the sights and it was great to come back to after hiking to the top of Black Elk Peak.
