Situated at the top of the picturesque village of Runswick Bay and offering secluded gardens and parking, this delightful detached holiday cottage enjoys views across the cliff tops down to the sea. A tumble of pretty little cottages, almost clinging to the cliffs, leads down to the wide sandy beach at the bottom of the bay, surrounded and sheltered by the rugged cliff line. Cliff top walks afford breathtaking views across the North Yorkshire coastline as far as the historic port of Whitby, known for its connections with Captain James Cook and the novel of Dracula, written by Bram Stoker. Dracula was published in 1897 with many of the early chapters recognisably set in Whitby - the various sites including Tate Hill Sands, the abbey, the church and its steps, the graveyard and Stoker’s house which have all become huge tourist attractions and are well worth a visit. The Captain Cook Memorial Museum and the Whitby Lifeboat Museum are also of interest. The North Yorkshire Moors National Railway can be boarded to discover the delights and beauty of the Esk Valley, travelling through Heartbeat’s very own village of Aidensfield. This truly is an ideal location for exploring Yorkshire’s Heritage coastline with Whitby just 9 miles and Filey and Bridlington a little further. Scarborough is also located on this coastline and is the oldest resort in the country, offering Scarborough Castle, just east of the town centre and between two golden sandy bays, many interesting museums and of course the bays with many amusements, Sea Life Centre, cruises and boat trips. The beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors National Parks await exploration, with pretty little villages such as Lealholm, Rosedale, Egton, Danby and Castleton tucked away in the valleys. Shop 1½ miles.

Beautifully clean and comfortable cottage, had fun using an aga for the first time (you can make toast on it ). Enjoyed morning cup of tea upstairs with view of the coast. Perfect for walking. Good local bus service. Be aware it’s a steep walk downhill to the bay. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A lovely place to be. Fantastic location with a lovely beach within walking distance. The house is very well equipped with good accommodation. The garden is very pleasant to sit in and is a safe space for children to play. We had a lovely week in this cottage in Runswick Bay and we would recommend it highly. this is the most comfortable and welcoming cottage we have ever had the pleasure in staying in.
this is the most comfortable and welcoming cottage we have ever had the pleasure in staying in. We honestly couldn't fault anything. it was very well equipped. We loved the Aga, and especially liked the upstairs bedroom with its own bathroom and veranda. The cottage is slightly more expensive than we would normally pay, but it really is worth paying the extra. 10 out of 10.

Seacot is a lovely, comfortable 'home from home', very well equipped - the Aga was a treat ! Runswick Bay is a beautiful place and well worth visiting, as are many of the other places nearby, like Staithes. Good pub nearby, the Ellerby Country Inn, excellent food. One of the very best cottages we've stayed in.

We had wet and cold weather so the comforts provided by Seacot were even more enjoyable.
We had wet and cold weather so the comforts provided by Seacot were even more enjoyable. The AGA in the kitchen gives a warm welcome. The rooms are spacious and the matching curtains/bedding are lovely. Shower was amazing and there are two bathrooms which is a bonus. Two of us were not so mobile so our eyes lit up when we saw the riser/recliner chair. Televisions in each bedroom if you want your own space. Welcome pack meant no dashing off for milk or even a glass of vino to start the hols. In any case the Coop in Staithes has a great range of products. The bus runs along the road regularly into Whitby which is a lovely run. Do go to the Cliffemount hotel for a meal. Its a short walk with great food and fab view - if not foggy!
