Lovely Retreat!
I stayed here for a month for a medical procedure that required I stay in the area for a month. Great location for necessities and dining options, the garden area is welcoming I regret not spending more time in it

Nice Little Place
Was in San Francisco for a work for a month. This place was a nice change of pace from the downtown hotels I usually stay in. Small but adequate kitchen. A nice neighborhood to find a variation of restaurants, as coffee shops, and produce stand/grocery stores. Though my favorite was the patio and all of its greenery!

Mission District Get Away
The property is located in the Mission District of San Francisco. It is in a nice area with friendly neighbors. Restaurants and shopping are within walking distance. It's just a few blocks from the Latino Cultural District. Great Mexican Restaurants, Bakeries and Grocery Stores. What absolutely makes this property special is the Zen Garden outside. It's private, well kept and all yours. The Owner Dan is a pleasure to work with, Parking is a struggle but I managed with a little bit of stealthy planning. We would definitely stay again.

Liked: Check-in
Mission District on 22nd St SF
Beautiful outdoor space, though shady. Enjoyed working on the plants. White owner owning 2 multi-occupant 2-floor colorful homes, is in strong communication (though living far away), with local team responding if there is an issue. Beautiful to be in San Francisco. Especially enjoyed living near 24th St, lovely Latino community.

Perfect stay for a family with young kids
My husband and I stayed here with our two children ages 3 and 1 in June of 2013 (the arrival date calendar is incorrect). The location of the apartment and it's size were perfect for the four of us. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and snacks. The garden was wonderful for the kids and us to explore on sleepy mornings. The beds worked out perfectly for us, super comfy and warm. The location was wonderful: close to laundromat, transportation, and great restaurants! And the colors and artwork were a delight to us all. So glad we found it!

The Perfect Home Away From Home!
Ok, I lied...it's actually way better than my own home, lol! I always stay in the Mission when I'm in town. I was so happy to have found this oasis that was so close to my friend's place and in the very neighborhood that I loved! Everything was true to its listing. From the colorful grand "gallery" hallway full of paintings leading into the spacious unit, to the peaceful and charming private garden, everything was perfect! Dan and his cleaning manager Rubia had everything ready for us when we got there. The plush towels were clean and so soft, the beddings for both the main bedroom and futon (in the living room) were clean and comfortable to sleep on. It was within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and even has a liquor store/mart on the corner of the street (where we bought a lot of It's-It Ice Cream sammies and water from), so convenient! My friend loved it so much that he's written down this rental info for whenever his parents are visiting in town. Renting a car is not necessary. We used Uber to go to Trader Joes, the Waterbar at The Embacadero, even Japantown (so cheap, only $10 or so). There's also a bus stop ($2.25 fare) right across the street from the apt on Bryant. We didn't have a problem finding street parking at night, a couple blocks away, no biggie. Thanks so much Dan and Rubia! You guys are the best! I will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in town.

Great private space
I think the space is perfect for 2 people but also a good space for a child or 2. The outside patio space was awesome and very oasis like and I sat out there every morning with coffee and just enjoyed the air. In renting a car I was worried about finding a parking space in such a busy area, but the farthest I had to go was 2 blocks without having to pay for an overnight garage. It's also great having all the amenities of a fridge, microwave, and kitchen necessities available for the little daily things. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider again. This place was a bargain compared to what others are charging in this city.

Warm & Inviting
My husband and I flew out from Michigan to see the Eagles vs 49ers (We won't talk about the game) and stayed for a long weekend. We wanted to see San Francisco and surrounding area since it was the first time for both of us to CA. The apartment was just as described and the owner was very easy to contact and answered all our questions. If we return to this area, I would definitely choose to stay here again. My husband and I decided to walk everywhere to see neighborhoods, but public transportation was available within a few blocks. The apartment was so comfortable to come back to each day after 2 long days of walking. It was just what we needed and it was nice to have a "little home" instead of a hotel. We had fabulous food at El Matate, Palmyra (Haight St) and the ice cream at Humphrey Slocumbe was insane!! We visited Golden Gate Park, walked out to the ocean, trekked through Land's End. If you're planning on Alcatrez, buy tickets in advance, we were lucky enough to get them but tours were selling out days in advance. Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Chinatown were all very cool. The little wine cellar (corner of Florida and 22nd St) had amazing wines and the clerk we dealt with was so helpful. We had an amazing time and are so grateful we found this little slice of heaven.

In a word? Perfect!
Our stay (4 nights) exceeded our expectations. We'd never been to San Francisco or used HomeAway and decided on Mission Garden. From first contact with the owner Dan to check-out everything went perfect. There was room for all four of us (2 adults and 2 kids, 11 and 7 who slept on the futon). Everything was very clean and very well-kept. The outside patio was GREAT! Location was GREAT! In the Mission District you do not feel like a tourist. You get a feel for San Francisco on a more local level. Mission Garden is close to all public transportation. We used BART, Bus, Taxi and even rented a car for a day (38.00 $!) to drive to Monterey Bay (aquarium). Also incredible. And then there was Zorah, the "local manager". THANK YOU ZORAH!!! We had international luggage and a late connecting flight on our last day. Zorah made it possible for us to enjoy our last day in San Francisco! She was 100 % reliable, helped us find a solution to our luggage problem without having to go to the airport first and even called a taxi to pick us up in time for our flight. We were not expecting that and are extremely grateful for the help! Priceless. This property recommended to anyone looking to enjoy San Francisco.

Cozy, reasonably priced SF lodging with a bonus patio area!
The reasonable price and pictures drew us in, the garden patio are was a real draw. Ended up spending a lot of time enjoying the ambience. Had 3 adults, never felt crowded. We were very happy with the place, the location (Mission District, easily got around town on busses). We had a car with us, and never used it while staying here (we parked it less than a mile away at the hospital parking structure for $12/day, a bargain!). Enjoyed the layout and decoration of apartment and the owner had a great folder recommending places to eat right in the neighborhood (we went to several of them). Also could get fresh grocery items in a few blocks and some wonderful bakery on 24th Street. The Mission area has a lot to offer and we enjoyed walking different routes to check it out. Several bus lines (and Bart which we did not use) in short walking distance which we got really good at using in the 4 days we were there.

An amazing value
Our stay was wonderful. The pre-trip communications were excellent. The unit was spacious, spotlessly clean and very recently renovated. The owners provided excellent information on the neighborhood and the apartment. The neighborhood was vibrant with excellent restaurants etc. This was also excellent value in a very high rent city. A++++

Great place!
We loved the location and the homey feeling of this very clean and tidy apartment. The garden extends the living area and feels so private even as it opens out to the lovely surroundings. This was our oasis in the very busy city we visited for just a short time. Next time we'll plan to stay longer to enjoy this gem of a vacation rental even more!

Colorado Grandma
Mission Garden Retreat is a pleasant, comfy place. It is clean and well maintained with plenty of space for 1 or 2 adults. I only had contact with the owner through emails but he was quite helpful. The property is close to BART and local bus stops. Many shops, restaurants, and grocery stores are within walking distance.

Hip Neighborhood
"Hip neighborhood" my 27 year old son says of this area! Wish I had scheduled more time just to check it out. Previously looked at murals which are a city treasure in my view. Don't miss the alley of murals. Hallway knocked me out in a groovy 60's kind of way. Nice balance of updates and psychedelic charm. Very quiet for sleeping. Owner is personable and professional.

The perfect haven!
What a great spot! We loved our two night stay in this little gem. Fun neighborhood, easy walk to restaurants and coffeeshops. The garden is peaceful and adorable in a whimsical, haphazard way, and the space itself is warm and inviting. Dan was very helpful and communicative with us through email, though we didn't meet anyone the entire stay- which was perfect for us and helped our visit keep the low key, relaxing vibe we were looking for. The only thing you have to watch out for is parking- not too hard to find but watch out for street cleaning times.. the ticket is $64, and we got two of them! :( All in all a fantastic experience. We'll definitely be staying again next time we need a place in SF!

From France
We came from France for a 5 days stay in San Francisco. The owner of the appartment answered to all our questions about the appartment, the mission district, the city and even about places to visit in California. The appartment was very clean and welcoming. Having breakfast in the garden is a delight. We can recommend the rental to anyone looking for a peacefull and inspiring visit to the city. You should go out in the neighbourhood to admire the mural paintings. Pay a visit to the women's building on 18th street. The paintings are admirable.

Geat place to chill in San Francisco. Private & cozy. Comfortable. Enjoyed the garden. Keeps one from feeling closed in. Dan & Zorah were very helpful & prompt to answer any questions. Interesting area, not to far from most anywhere you'd want to go. Represented appropriately on VRBO.

A beautiful Apartment in a nice district
My initial impulse to stay at this place was motivated by two things: 1. my love for the mission district atmosphere, and 2. it's proximity to Philz coffee, my mistress in the night haha. I was quite happy with the place it was beautifully furnished. The terrace was very cute and the entire apartment gave a cozy and relaxed feeling. In addition the owner was incredibly understanding and assisted me in my quest to book the place. He also provided everything that i needed at the place. The place was clean and fully equipped and the owner provided information on fun stuff to do in SF. Truly a great place which i would definitely like to use again!

Apt. exactly as pictured; interesting neighborhood
We spent four nights in the cozy Mission Garden Retreat, a very comfortable, well equipped private apartment with quiet enclosed garden. Enjoyed sleeping with cool breeze coming in the open window through which we could hear the garden fountain. Everything was as pictured in listing and arrangements were easily made with owner by e-mail. If you like a diverse and interesting neighborhood, the Mission is for you. Also it is generally sunny, even when fog is rolling over the west side of the city. Plenty of good cafes and small grocers. We enjoyed a free tour of Mission neighborhood murals with a volunteer City Guide, which led to even greater appreciation of the history and culture of the Mission area. We arrived by Bart from Oakland Airport to 24th and Mission and walked to apartment--about 0.6 mile. Very convenient if you pack lightly.

Lovely apartment in a quiet neigbborhood
I chose Mission District because it is an interesting and culturally diverse neighborhood. My 3 favorable gourmet groceries in San Francisco are kind of within walking distance or just need a short cab ride. Mission Street ,Valencia Street and Mission Delores can be reached on foot The apartment is clean, charming, safe and cosy. Even though it tends to be on the small side but can accommodate 1-3 people rather nicely. It would be perfect if the patio can be touched up a bit. Overall, the stay is very enjoyable.
