Rush down the twirling slides in total darkness and shoot out into the warm pools. Among the highlights are the Shark Wave pool and the Lazy River ride. Enjoy the excellent views from the pools of the verdant mountains that surround the complex, including the impressive Mount Seorak, sometimes covered in snow.
Float in the Rainbow Stream and soak in the warm waters of Spa Valley. Try the various whirlpool tubs for utter relaxation. If you’re feeling brave, attempt the orange-and-blue funnel-shaped slide known as The Maelstrom.
Slide down a water chute known as the 4-D Theater and listen to the sound effects. Relax in the sauna powered by the area’s hot springs that date back to the Jurassic era. Take the little ones to the children’s pool and fountain area.
Note that you must wear a swimming cap in the water, which comes from a natural hot spring of alkaline mineral water. It is cooled to a comfortable temperature for most of the pools. Visitors have reported benefits of the hot springs, such as smoother skin.
The indoor and outdoor pools open from morning until evening. Other features, such as the Torrent River and 4-D Theater close earlier. There is a fee to access the park, with discounts for the kids. Note that some amenities have extra fees. The center has on-site food services.
Seorak Waterpia is in the western outskirts of Sokcho in northeastern South Korea. Ride a bus west from the city center for under 40 minutes to get to this water park. Visit the nearby golf course, parks and gardens in this diverse region.
