Our stay at Hotel Skaftafell was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and facility was clean and quiet. Our continental breakfast was very nice.

The rooms were great, but can only accommodate up to three people per room, so our family of five had to book two rooms. The rooms were simple and clean. Bathroom shower was a little outdated and small. Bed we’re comfortable.

There are wonderful hiking trails right out the back door. You can hike to 2 glaciers. The food in the restaurant was excellent, but very pricey.

Check in lady was not friendly at all. We went little early than check in time, I told her that I was not feeling well if we can check in little early, she said rooms are not ready, and we only went 45 minutes earlier than check in time 4 o’clock, we had two rooms and she could have given us at least one room. Also bathroom shower was very small.

Excellent service!
The front desk staff told me in detail how to access the trail to the glacier behind the hotel. They also very kindly put my cold food in the restaurant refrigerator overnight as our room had no fridge. They gave me ice the next morning as I was leaving. Excellent service!

This was a very nice, clean, and basic hotel. Across the street is a well-stocked gas station, convenience store, and cafe. Behind the hotel is a lovely, short hike that overlooks 2 glaciers. This was the most expensive overnight stay that we had in Iceland, but you're paying for the location here as there isn't much available so close to Jokulsarlon and the sights in between. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. Dinner again was the most expensive meal we had, but it was delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, we were very happy with our stay here.

I recently stayed at your hotel and wanted to share my thoughts. While the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good, there were a few areas that fell short of my expectations. The hotel rooms were quite small, and the pillows were old and worn out, which affected the comfort of my stay. Additionally, I found that there were limited vegetarian options not only at the hotel but also in the surrounding area.

Best backyard - walk to the glacier
Very clean, comfy, charming and has the best backyard where you are 20 min (walk) from the glacier. The food at the restaurant was excellent. Didn’t have their breakfast. Enjoy this stay as a one night stay passing through the area

Surprised!
We were pleasantly surprised at our stay! It’s not a fancy hotel more like a motel but very clean, nice staff and fantastic location. We were surprised that one of Iceland’s most visited glaciers was literally the backdrop to this place! We did a night hike and explored the glacier. Breakfast was good and check in and check out was super easy.

Good location to stay if visiting iceberg lagoon. Right at the bottom of the glacier in pretty remote area. Rooms comfortable if rather basic, quick and efficient check in. Good breakfast as part of the deal. Negative for restaurant closing early and the bar upstairs, with empty basic room with no decor, charging more than bars downtown Reykjavik, lol. Good alternative is a gas station across the road. Altogether seemed pricey for what one gets, but I guess being one of few options in the area allows that.
