Spur of the Moment Getaway
The decor fits the locale and age of the home. There is plenty to do nearby or just relax in the peace and quiet of the property. We started and ended each day on the front porch. It was so nice to be able to take our pups with us. We look forward to returning!

Great getaway!
If you’re into cool historic experiences, this is the place. Everything you need is right there - s’mores materials, campfire supplies, cooking spices and necessities, snacks, coffee and tea. I could go on. Wonderful little place and perfect for kids and dogs to play by the creek. Mom or dad can soak in the cast iron tub when the kids go to bed. Will be back!

Beautiful Old Farm House
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Hammond House while hiking in nearby Shenandoah National Park. It was the coziest house with old world charm and lot of little features that made it feel like a home - from the big soaking tub to the s’mores supplies we used at the fire pit. I would absolutely stay here again.

Hammonf House Perfect for Us
When first see house looks just like the pics but when you take in the property, the Spring House, and area around then it becomes even more charming. We enjoyed the community of Strasburg and the antique shops there and other towns. Walking trail at Cedar creek with our dog along with ice cream stands. The host had the house stocked well and enjoyed cooking the fresh peaches in season there. Our dog enjoyed the large fenced in yard with alot to explore along with the cows from the neighboring farm. Saw deer in our early morning dog walks. We hope to return next summer to Hammond House.

Cozy Historic Home
Spent a weekend enjoying this lovely home with my partner and we brought our two kitties with us. Loved the kitchen and large bathroom and all the extra amenities that were provided were wonderful!! The large property is great for pets and the sunrise was just beautiful that you could see from the bedrooms.

Thanksgiving
The historical house was a perfect venue for our Thanksgiving celebration. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and our dogs thoroughly enjoyed romping and barking at the neighborhood cows. We also enjoyed visiting the local winery! It was definitely a Thanksgiving we will cherish.

Great house but bathroom is on first floor, bedrooms are not.
First, I wanted to say that the house was great. The views were fantastic, it was great hearing the cows and seeing the sunsets over the mountains. The host has basically everything you would need! There was an abundance of towels, shampoo/body wash, spices, coffee. Pretty much everything you would need to spice up your meal if just coming back from the store with just the basics, ie. meats, veggies, starch, etc. The ONLY drawback was that the bathroom is on the first floor and there are not bedrooms on the first floor. We had to walk downstairs to "go" at night. Now, when we were looking for a house, we wanted one with the bathroom close to the bedroom, and in picture 12 of the pics of the house, it says "Bedroom 1 - 1st floor." We chose this house specifically because of this. If we had known that the bedrooms were on the 2nd floor and the bathroom was on the 1st, we would not have chosen it. Were we unhappy and did we have any regrets? No. As I said the house was great! There were a few ghosts that came to visit us at night though, so if you like a haunted house, this one would be for you. In fact, it has the same floor plan of a known haunted house (winery) at Valerie Hill Winery, just up the road. If you do rent this house, go check out Valerie Hill too, may help to conjure up the spirits!

Historic Paradise
The views across the valley from the property's back yard offer absolute tranquility; it was quite difficult to leave these behind. Cassie and her Father were wonderful Hosts and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and welcome to their historic family home. The Kitchen is stocked with many items to make home cooking easy and the home is well maintained. Although only a few minutes from Route 81, the location is comfortably remote and yet only 6 miles away from all the local amenities you may need. Nearby Strasburg and Middletown both have some great restaurants and the home is also not far from Front Royal and/or Winchester. Thank you again, Cassie, for the opportunity to stay in your family's lovely home and all of your efforts.

Wonderful farmhouse weekend!
We had a lovely, peaceful stay! The house was well-stocked with everything we needed, including a very nice little welcome basket. We and our dog had fun roaming around the beautiful property and meeting the cows next door. Great break from the city and very convenient to Shenandoah. Loved the bathtub and the popcorn maker! :)

Beautiful property in heart of Shenedoah
Whata beautiful place to spend a few days! When you arrive and see the view, everything else falls into place. The house itself has all the amenities one could ask for. Kitchen utensils, bathrooms accessories, sheets, blankets, pillows and even toilet paper and paper towels are provided in abundance which is nice if you're traveling a distance and don't want to drag the entire house with you. The bathroom is the dream the pictures shows, make sure to enjoy the tub! The furniture was very comfortable as well. Outdoors is a dream, the springhouse, the spring, the cattle next door with wineries in the background, you can't ask for more. Communication with the owner was A plus! we will be back.

Our family of 5 absolutely loved our stay at The Hammond House. The house had all we needed, was clean, and beautiful. The grounds around the house were scenic and clean. We enjoyed using the fire pit and exploring the little creek. The surrounding area offered so much to do & explore. We enjoyed great food as well. We hope and plan to return with some extended family as well! Just thoroughly enjoyed our time and stay! Highly recommend!
