Luxurious,Secluded, Award-Winning Highland Eco-Lodge, Panoramic Hot-tub sea View

A luxurious, secluded, award-winning eco-lodge, 15 minutes walk from the famous Applecross Inn, this beautiful highland home from home is only 90 mins drive from the Isle of Skye or Inverness. Best hot tub views in Scotland!

Enter the ancient spiritual sanctuary of Applecross via the spectacular Bealach na Ba, and arrive at Eagle Rock, which is built on the site of an ancient Viking watchfire. Settle in to soak up the wildness, passing wildlife and incredible panoramic views - from the infinity view HOT-TUB, or wrapped in comfort by the library fire with a whisky in your hand.

Eagle Rock is the epitome of low key luxury and pragmatism. It's beautiful and comfortable, equipped with high-end audio, WiFi and tech, handcrafted fittings and fixtures, (including the magnificent harp-shaped staircase, carved from a giant local Douglas Fir), and a Michelin chef designed kitchen.

The lodge's large, flexible spaces lend themselves to fitting around the different groups, and is perfect for special gatherings of families and friends. Small destination weddings or celebrations, where families or generations come together work well here.

There is warmth everywhere, even room by room and underfoot! (Honeymoon couples, retreat groups, and wedding parties love us!). Our winter months are almost as full as the summer ones, though the holiday is more about enjoying the incredible drama outside from warmth, space and comfort.

Our website can tell you more about bespoke catering services, botanical, cultural and historical offerings, wildlife luxury cruises...but Tesco and highland wholefoods deliver food and beverages to the door, so you can order and book online before your trip. A huge fridge freezer, industrial ice machine and two drinks fridges should see you right! (Americans - I got the ice machine especially for you!).

So often, guests arrive with lots of plans, and then find they are really very happy hanging out on the deck or media and library snug by the fire or a window seat. The hot tub heats up to 40degrees, so it's brilliant, even in winter, when you can catch the Northern Lights.

DESIGNED BY AN AWARD WINNING ARCHITECT, (who put his expertise in designing six-star South African game lodges using local materials to good use), wilderness, luxury, and ever-changing vistas make Eagle Rock a jaw-dropping experience. The house has 2500m of floor space, yet a playful flow of intimate, cozy nooks with the large living makes it a popular destination for couples. With fireplaces a stunning lighting scheme to fit different moods and functions, a huge deck and garden, and a Michelin chef designed/equipped kitchen.

This eco-sanctuary was built as a labor of love over years by the owner. It exists to inspire and nourish those who want to step out of their daily reality for a while and connect with each other and the heartbeat of the Highlands.

Keep an eye out for passing porpoises, otters, eagles and other wildlife. Listen to the wind roar from the depths of a cozy fireside leather sofa in the library as dramatic storms sweep across the bay from Skye. Dip into a lifetime's collection of books, films, sculptures, artworks and games. Enjoy meals at the huge, specially commissioned ironwood dining table in the vast dining room.

There is a large firepit down a wheelchair-accessible pathway from the infinity hot-tub, and a large fenced garden. Golfers have been known to practice their putting for hours on the lawn, and the house has a croquet set.

Eagle Rock is nothing short of exceptional
This property is exactly what we were looking for in a vacation retreat! We only had four of us staying in this large house but found it very warm and welcoming. The location is very remote and quiet, which suited our vacation plans perfectly! The home is outfitted exceptionally well and the kitchen has everything we needed. There are plenty of beautiful sitting areas both inside and out so you can choose to be in a quiet nook or in a cozy group gathering. The home is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you are at home! Catherine was away during our stay but was very communicative up to our arrival. Catherine’s friend Jane stayed locally and was very helpful with any questions and also made great suggestions for local activities. We had a wonderful stay here!

Superb Stay at Eagle Rock
Stayed for a week. We had great weather for sunbathing on the deck. The hot tub is a real bonus with perhaps the best hot tub views in the planet. Property super comfortable with everything you could want and more. Cath is great, gave us superb welcome showed us round then disappeared. A simply wonderful week and we wished we booked longer. We will 100% use Eagle Rock again probably for a large celebration party. Can recommend Eagle Rock to small group looking for space and relaxation or large group looking for same or to do some serious partying. Thanks Cath for a wonderful week at your fabulous property

Perfection!
We had a fabulous week at Eagle’s Nest, 4 adults, 6 children aged between 4 and 12 and our Labrador! It was a 13 hour drive to get to beautiful Applecross but it was so worth it! Days were spent relaxing in the brilliantly equipped and comfortable house, enjoying the fabulous sushine, exploring the beaches, foraging, kayaking, playing with the resident chickens, eating too much at the great local pub and messing around in the hot tub on the cliff...those views! From initial enquiry until we waved a sad goodbye, Cath was brilliant. So responsive over email, chatty on the phone and so warm and relaxed in person. We’d love to come again one day, we can’t recommend Eagle’s Nest enough!

Eagle Rock Delivers! Unique UK staycation
A great and easy-to-enjoy house in a spectacular location. The village of Applecross, the huge views over the inner sound with the ever-changing sky, and the adventure of the local roads and hikes gave us more than enough to do. The hosts were superb and readily available, and kind to our children. Highly recommended.

Absolutely wonderful!
We absolutely loved our stay at Eagle Rock! We had 5 adults and 2 children, ages 2 & 4. We had a warm welcome and everything obtaining to the house was explained to us. Everything was clean and well stocked. I loved the house decor and even bought a beaded highland cow from the home owner, I love it! You definitely need to either bring your own groceries or have them delivered by Tesco. There is a SMALL shop down the road but not big enough to fill your fridge with needed items. We bought a kite from the Shop and had a great time playing with the kids in the back yard. Even though you still need to watch the kids, there is a fence protecting the kids from the cliff edge. That was my biggest concern before arriving at the house but the edge isn't as close as it looks in the photos. The house layout was perfect and we couldn't of been happier! The view were breathtaking and the hiking that's close by is great. Overall we were very happy with the house and hosts, and my kids didn't want to leave!

Exceeded All Expectations!
Our 5-day stay at Eagle Rock was part of a two-week girls' trip through Scotland, and all four of us agreed that it was the highlight of the trip. The house is stunning. It has every amenity we could imagine, and then some. It is new, well maintained, and artistically decorated and furnished. All the bedrooms and baths were comfortable and luxuriously appointed (e.g., the kind of quality linens rarely found in rental houses). We learned that the kitchen was designed by an award-winning chef, and it did not surprise us. The use of the space, the furnishings, and the breathtaking views of the water and Isle of Skye made it the central focus of the house for us. The local caretakers, Mark and Frances, were very friendly and helpful. We had selected Eagle Rock and Applecross without knowing exactly what the location would be like for touring. What we found was a picturesque village with charming people. It isn't a large town, but there are excellent restaurants, a grocery with all the necessities, relaxing walks along wooded paths, and lots of history. The town is definitely remote, but it was easy enough to drive to Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle and other attractions. We mastered the Bealach na Ba route in no time, cutting a good 30-40 minutes off the drive along the coast road. But in actuality, Eagle Rock house was so interesting and well located, that it became one of the attractions itself. We were enthralled looking at all the beautiful furnishings and art and guessing the provenance. We did have the pleasure of briefly meeting the owner, Catherine Stewart. She is an amazing world traveler and accomplished artist, and we would have enjoyed a few more gin and tonics with her! It was obvious that Eagle Rock is one of her passions. It was equally obvious that she wanted all her guests to have the best experience there possible. As you can tell from this glowing report, we loved our time at Eagle Rock and Applecross. It truly exceeded all our expectations.

Simply the best!
I've been at Eagle Rock now with my family and as a women's retreat leader, and all I can say is: perfect. Stunning. Eagle Rock is the one place my family can't wait to get back to. The views, always beautiful and ever changing, are to die for. The house is elegant and yet homey. Very comfortable and comfy and well equipped. The place is magical and mysterious. The location is unsurpassed:pure, raw beauty, plenty of local trails that are our favorites, woods, sea, mountains, history, sacredness. The local food and restaurants are divine. The icing on the cake is the owner, Cath, who is the perfect hostess and a wealth of information. Plus she is an amazing ARTiST! We can't wait to return.

Perfect Getaway!
Our stay at Eagle Rock was everything we had hoped for at Applecross. Our drive over the Bealach na Ba pass, the sea kayaking and the botany walk with Gill were all highlights. But most impressive for our group was staying at Eagle Rock. Plenty of room for us to spread out and it didn't take long for the house to become our home. Bedrooms were very comfortable. The hot tub was incredible. Definitely order your groceries to be delivered by Tesco. That worked out really well for our group. Be sure to eat at both Applecross Inn and the Walled Garden (have the Forgers Lunch). A shout out to Jack Marris' Photography. Catherine was a special host. She took very good care of us. I feel like we have a new friend. Catherine's art and book collections were a nice surprise. We highly recommend Eagle Rock for your stay in this special place in the Highlands. Hope to get back for a 2nd trip.

Words and photos are limiting - you must see and feel Eagle Rock to get it
As stunningly beautiful as the photographs on the Eagle Rock website are, they do not do justice to ER or the sweeping sea and landscapes visible from every perch: window, balcony, deck, and rock. The view quite literally changes by the minute, as the clouds and sun play on the blue/gray of the water and the green/gray of the grass and stone. Even the mist and rain (which happen ☺) bring the gift of magnificent waterfalls and rustling streams and brooks. We were a large group, yet there were many moments—even hours—of peaceful contemplation of the majesty of the mountains and sea. Pressures and anxieties melted away—the magic of your immersion in the wild yet somehow calming natural beauty of the view demands it. The owner, Catherine, is herself among the greatest charms of—and we believe integral to—the Eagle Rock experience. We were celebrating a 30th anniversary and four birthdays in our group. Catherine graciously facilitated amazing dinners, lovely cakes, wool spinning, guided walks, drives and other activities, often joining our wild crowd. We left begging her to come home with us. The descriptions of the interior and the amenities are not exaggerated—if anything, Catherine modestly plays down her aesthetic gifts and the beauty of her dream fulfilled. The decks, patios and fire pit draw you out in sun and cloud and mist. Ask for the story of the magnificent fir tree from which many of the stairs, benches, shelves and floor boards are made. Catherine’s collected works of sculpture—including her own!—fill the house with beauty and surprises. The kitchen is so well appointed you could prepare anything for anyone, and then clean up in a jiffy. Applecross is still quite remarkably (and wonderfully remote), yet boasts the Applecross Inn with food that will blow your mind. Judy and Robert manage the massive influx of summer visitors with enviable aplomb. We spent many an hour in the fine weather, sitting outside letting the setting sun take our breath away. We had dinner in the Walled Garden too, which was equally warm-friendly-delicious, and the gardens are truly spectacular. On a practical note, Tesco delivers groceries, which can be ordered online. And the little shop just 5 minutes walk away has a remarkably broad selection of staples. We can’t recommend Eagle Rock more resoundingly than this: we will be back—flying across oceans and braving the Bealach for the thrill of looking out across the bay to Raasay while sharing a glass with Cath.

Gorgeous views, beautiful house and warm friendly local people
This house is a must place to stay if you are going to the Highlands. The views from the house are fantastic, morning, noon and night. The owner, Catherine, is a very warm friendly person. (We just fell in love with her). She makes you feel at home and will do anything to make your stay comfortable. Catherine is very talented and has an eye for decorating. Through out the house, Catherine has placed many things she made herself and many things she has brought from places she has traveled. The kitchen is well stocked with any items you will need to use cooking, however, I would recommend eating at the Applecross Inn. The food is incredible. We had scallops, steak, tuna and sticky toffee cake! The people are very friendly and accommodating. There are many trails to hike, original stock of Highland cows that you will fall in love with. We took a day to tour Isle of Skye. We actually wished we had stayed at the house although the Eilean Donan Castle is a must see. Again if you are wanting to spend a beautiful relaxing vacation this is the place to go.
