"The owners have done a lovely job furnishing the property. It's near the Westside of Lake Taupo. Great fishing and very nice beach, but there a couple of issues. The property lacks internet! It's the 21st century, not having internet is like not having indoor plumbing or electricity. Without the internet, there's no smart TV. "Friendly Host. Excellent condition. Other than the location, everything else was good. Comfortably houses my family of 7pax. The unit cones with almost everything. However, there was insufficient chairs for 7pax as booked. Nice scenery from the rooms. Unfortunately the trial to the lake was closed."

Fantastic upscale hostel/motel

"I cannot say enough good about this place! Wonderful service, comfortable room with private bath/shower, great breakfast buffet (extra), bar, & restaurant (reserve your dining time early). Plenty of free parking. Our room looked out directly at the volcano with a sliding door walk out patio. Also, great location. We had planned to leave a vehicle at each end of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing but they counseled us that there is a 4 hr time limit after which you are likely to get towed, so we bought a round trip shuttle. Good to have the heads up!"

Great stay in Taumarunui

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Riverlea Cottage and art stay. Mark our host was there waiting for us when we arrived ( we called 15 minutes ahead while en route). He gave us good recommendations for dining , the Thai place was quite good and the Indian restaurant the best I've ever tasted. The house is 100 years old, spacious and comfortable. Mark is quite the artist and has his paintings throughout the house. He gave us a card with one of our favorite of his paintings and a bottle of fig jam which we are enjoying. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood, but within an easy walk to the restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. TV has Netflix. We choose Taumarunui as our base to bike the lower half of the Timber Trail Track our first full day and then did the Tangariro crossing the next full day. It was very nice to be there in Taumarunui in a comfortable home to unwind in after physically demanding days. I particularly enjoyed just being in a non touristy new Zealand town in a very Kiwi house and neighborhood where we appeared to be two of very few tourists."
