Tracy Aviary is a vast sanctuary in the heart of Salt Lake City with about 400 birds from 135 species. It has a range of exhibits spread out across 8 acres (3 hectares) of scenic grounds in a corner of Liberty Park. Bring your family to get a closer look at some of the intriguing creatures in the aviary.
Capture photos of the long beaks of the large water birds in the Pelican Pond and marvel at the majestic Andy the Andean Condor in the King of the Andes exhibit. Admire the pink hues of the animals in the Chilean Flamingos section and embark on an Amazon Adventure to see the bright colors of tropical birds.
The indoor Treasures of the Rainforest exhibit makes you feel like you’re in the jungle, with bright sights and intriguing birdcalls. Learn about the conservation efforts in the Keas area and appreciate the national emblem of the bald eagle in the North American Eaglessection.
Participate in one of the many activities and festivals that take place in the bird park. These include fundraising events and avian spectacles. The collection of birds was founded by banker Russell Lord Tracy and has been open to the public since 1938.
Wander through the rest of Liberty Park on a sunny afternoon and have a picnic with friends. The park has playgrounds, a swimming pool, sports areas and amusement rides. Let your kids play in the Seven Canyons Fountain in summer.
Pay a fee for a day pass to the aviary and get discounts for students, children and seniors. Infants can enter for free. The site opens daily from morning until evening.
Tracy Aviary is in the southwestern part of Liberty Park in the heart of Salt Lake City. Take a tram to the Trolley Station and walk south for a few blocks to reach the park. Visit nearby sights, such as Smith’s Ballpark, the Leonardo Museum and the Gilgal Sculpture Garden.
