Kuta’s southernmost district offers superb shopping, excellent family entertainment and a quieter atmosphere than you’ll find in the town centre.

Stay in colourful Tuban to explore large shopping malls, dine on local delicacies from street vendors or restaurants and spend lazy afternoons at the beach. Hunt for bargains in the markets and enjoy fun-packed days at the nearby amusement parks. If you want to head into Kuta, it’s just a short walk or bemo ride away.

Walking south from Kuta town centre you would be unlikely to spot where Kuta ends and Tuban begins. The air remains scented with incense from the colourful offerings outside the houses, and street vendors can be seen selling snacks, coconuts and clothes. However, Tuban is known as a quieter alternative to the non-stop buzz of Kuta and its borders are generally defined as the area south of Maharati and the airport.

Many families choose to stay here because of the proximity to amusements such as the Waterbom Park. Spend a day riding the waterslides and other exciting rides. Hunt for a bargain at the Discovery Mall, where there are genuine branded clothes at discount prices. Look around the markets and the bargains will be cheaper still, although branded items here are unlikely to be real.

You’re never more than a short walk away from the beach in Tuban, so make sure you plan your day around regular dips in the sea. Indulge yourself with a relaxing massage at one of the spas and end your day with a meal in one of Tuban’s many restaurants. Prices in this area are often cheaper than in the centre of Kuta, so it’s worth exploring here even if you stay elsewhere.

As with the rest of Bali, Tuban’s climate is warm year-round, though you’re likely to see more rain from December to February.

Traffic can become congested in Tuban, so reach nearby destinations on foot. If you want to head slightly further afield, hail a bemo or hire a driver for the day to explore the glorious beaches and historic temples of the Bukit Peninsula to the south.

Have stayed at the Radiant four times mainly for transit stopover and will do so again if prices are reasonable. A little steep in this occasion.

Annoying people in their shops. Stop touching people and call them, whistle at them - we are no pets.
