"Sadly, our stay was not what we expected as the reality did not match the facilities and information given on Hotels.com. Positives - Our room (Rabelais) was quiet, clean and attractive. Negatives - We had great difficulty finding the very rural property using the address given and had to ask locals for directions, twice. (The hostess admitted the address was wrong.) Check-in is from 6p.m. so this made us later still, after a long journey. Parking is not clearly marked, so we parked near...

"The hotel was really lovely. Decor had been lovingly thought about and the owners are very much hands on. They have spent a lot of time getting the hotel to perfection. Room was extremely comfortable and quiet too. Large room and large bathroom. They had run out of croissants and pastries at 9am (breakfast finishes at 9.30). I didn’t ask so perhaps there were more available."

"It was our first time at the Grand Hotel. We stayed at the hotel on our way to catch the ferry from Caen to the UK. The location is very peaceful next to the Solesmes Abbey. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant was of a high quality. Our superior room had a balcony and air con and was spacious. Our little border terrier, Lola, was made very welcome and we found a lovely walk next to the river behind the Abbey. We will definitely come back. "
