"We had such a lovely stay at L'Echappee Belle. The rooms are comfy, spacious and clean and the house and grounds are beautiful, with lots of fruit and veg growing throughout the grounds which our hostess Sophie uses for her excellent guest dinners and breakfasts. "The staff was extremely concerned with our well being and have offered a very nice commercial gesture to compensate for the lack of hot water in our room. Our room faced the city of Gien and the view was really great. One just have to walk accross a bridge to reach the interesting sidewalk with restaurants on the other side of the Loire. I prefer that view (Castle of Anne de Beaujeu) from the one the hotels on the other side of the rriver would have. Highly recommended hotel."

"This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. There was no one at reception when we arrived and after calling out for ten minutes someone arrived but had difficulty finding our reservations. The room was small with knobs missing on doors, staines on the ceiling and peeling paint work. The bathroom was a joke. "I had a wonderful stay here, after a long motorcycle ride that started in Amsterdam. "We didn’t stay at Le Cheval Blanc as it was closed for holidays, Hotels.com advised of a nearby chambres d’hôtes and we stayed there ‘Au clos de Charny’ which was lovely, our only problem was our room was up two flights of steep stairs. The room was spacious and clean with a large comfortable bed, a very nice shower room with a good shower. The breakfast was superb, a great choice of cheeses and charcuterie, breads, homemade jams, fresh fruit salad and yoghurt. The host is a lovely lady too."

"Booked the day itself a room for the night and received a confirmation and payment was done. When I arrived the hotel was closed and out of operation. Some strange excuse that email was not working but apparently nothing was working because they couldnt give me a room because no rooms were heated and the water was shut off.
